Leupold Deltapoint Micro

Anybody tried one yet? If so what'd you think of it? I'm lookin' real hard at getting one. It looks like it'd be just the ticket for my aging eyes.

I have tried their Deltapoint and well as the Burris and Vortex. Of the 3, the Leupold would be my last choice.

Interesting. The folks I've shot with a lot say the only one they like better than the Deltapoint is the Trijicon RMR. I'm looking specifically at the Deltapoint Micro. It mounts to the existing rear sight dovetail and has a 1/3rd co-witness with the factory front sight. Where the battery and electronics are housed leaves kind of a dorky looking goiter hanging off the back of the gun, but there's no milling of the slide required and if the electronics go down or the battery goes dead it can double as a ghost ring rear sight. It's designed to mount very low on the slide.

If you happy with it, then go with it. One thing to consider when making you choice is weight. The added weight can cause your slide to not fully retract, noticeable in 22s and others with light slides, but some heavies can give problems as well. The Keltecs are the worse I have encountered. Going to hypervelocity and heavier bullets can sometimes alleviate this problem and you may have to do the old spring swaptitis.

With many, you have to buy an adapter plate which will cost another 20 or more. I too really like the sight pickup. The Burris and the vortex have a good variety of intensities is reason for my favoring them the most. Great if you are punching holes in bright white paper in bright sunlight at the range.

One other recommendation I would suggest is to toss the current battery that comes with your sight and install a new one. See many failures because the batteries are near the end of life or cheap.
