Making chili today -sharing my secret

I am keeping it basic, but tomatoes, peppers and corn along with ground beef and hit sausage (link chopped up) all get smoked for a few hours before the magic happens.
Today, smoked over hickory so should be quite a pronounced flavor.

Prepping meat today to make jerky in the smoker tomorrow. Your chili sounds interesting with the smoked ingredients.
...Corn? In chili?...Never heard or even thought of that and chili is a religion around here, to each their own...I spent 35 years figuring out my best chili recipe...cooks all day in a huge cast iron pot, then has to set overnight in the fridge...the big chili cookoff is in November each year in Terlingua, Texas...if you've never been its a great time!...just be prepared to be in the middle of nowhere...

Do you brown the meat before smoking?
Wife unit found a vegetarian chili recipe that is amazing. All kinds of veggies in it. Including corn.
Of course she adds ground venison to it. We're not neanderthals, after all.
Texas1911DE I was being nice and not gonna call him out for the corn in the chili... but you did! LOL Texas chili the only real kind, no chocolate, cinnamon or beans... unless you don't care for real Texas chili... LOL!
I throw whatever is around in chili & I smoke it. If I can’t smoke my chili I don’t bother.
Chili “purist” really give me a laugh.
I guarantee you would really enjoy what I cooked today. And you are correct, a few weeks from now it would be slightly different.
Smoked sweet corn was pretty good.
I smoke everything from Spaghetti sauce Key West Lobster.
Speaking of chili ... this is almost as old as I am but still funny every time I read it. Hope this works as I've never attached a web page.
my wife like to try out different recipes I pass it along to her know she like to cook and gets worked up over some internet cooking shows and well we have to try it
I am just a complacent fellow I find something I like and stick with it .
my wife use to make spicy soup or some such it was basic chili but had corn and vegetable's in it almost like a combination soup and chili ( duhh I guess where the name came from 😁 )
she and the boys really liked it as for me ah, take or leave it not a huge fan ,
I tell her make what ever she wants don't worry about me if I don't like what ever the new test run food is I find something else no big deal .
Warbirds, I'm not a die hard chili purest, I was just messing with ya, I've tried many different chilis and like most of them and I also do a whole lot of smoking stuff that isn't normally smoked, I'll have to try making my spaghetti sauce, that sounds good.
Trying to smoke liquids would end up in my water pan! 😂 There must be some sort of trick to that!

As a kid, we ate a fair amount of what dad called vegetable goulash. It was about like chill but with a bag of the frozen mixed vegetables in it. It was one of my favorites. Got us to eat our vegies on top of it.
