Back to basics and my roots

#1 was off work today so we took advantage of it. Loaded up the side by side with a couple fishing poles, tackle and one grandson.
Took a drive down to the creek, did some splashing around and then fed the minnows a few night crawlers. She used to have nightmares about worms, still detests them, but she will bait her own hook. Grandson is getting much better at casting.
They had a water fight when he got bored. He didn't want to leave, but he was starting to shiver so we headed home after about an hour.
Took me back to the days of my mom taking us down to the creek to swim and cool off. It's awesome that the grandkids get to have that same experience.

We used to go hand fishing at the nearby river, mainly got carp. No decent fish there but we would run a seine up it and get a bucket of minnows and crawdads to use for bait on a bigger river. Haven't done that since the early '70s.
Not a one, just fed the minnows. Lol. It wasn't about the catch, it was all about the fun.
