Family wedding...classic car pic and a story

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of my great niece and a fine young man and recently ordained minister she met in college. There are one of those couples you could tell were meant for each other right from the start....The fathers of the bride and groom are both ministers and shared in the wedding. My Nephew walked her down the isle, gave her away and did the vows. I will give the guy a lot of credit holding it together up there...It was a wonderful, touching ceremony to say the least.
The plan for the day was to drive them away from the reception in my Brother's (Bride's grandfather) restored 1970 442. The plan got washed out as a huge storm rolled in with hail in the area so we had to take it back to the garage to avoid any damage....
25 years ago, the same car was used to drive my niece and her husband (the father of the bride/minister) away from their reception. So the plan now is to get both couples together soon and takes pics of all four of them with the car.......
It was interesting to watch all the young folks taking selfies and pics of groups with the car. I did have to ask one young man to remove his butt from the hood....comments about wow, this car is over 50 years old were heard several times....
When my Brother drove it away from the outside reception, the crowd knew for sure what the sound was..😲

I know, but.....I will let some others take a shot...
The 1964 model meant 4 barrel carb 4 speed and dual exhaust the first motor was a 330 CI" and then in 1974 you could get a 442 with a 6 cylinder
My bro's car has a 455, four barrel, a sweet set of headers, glass packs and other upgrades....fun ride also...(he has not let anyone else drive it in over 20 years !)....He has owned it since 1982
1970 was the last year of the really potent 442's My Uncle had a Oldsmobile dealership in the 70's and 80's by the mid 70's the 442's was mostly a decal package
I had a 1962 Super 88 olds . It had a 394 that pumped out 330 hp in a 4 door family car .

When my wife and I got married (1976) we departed the wedding in my 1970 Z-28 Camaro (it had a lot more HP than when I bought it new). And, yes, they darned sure knew when we departed, even with all the stuff the family had put on the car as wedding decorations! 🤣

Back in the day,everyone I knew that had a 1970-72 Olds 442 or Cutlass said it was the best car they ever had.I never owned one but there were a lot of them around.

Not really in 1975 the base motor for the 442 was a 250CI" inline 6 the only thing left to a 442 was the decals
