A buddy brought a flea market find over for me to see...Savage .22-.410. Receiver looks care hardened...decent shape/decent wood...overall a good to very good gun. Any markings or other clues to determine age is appreciated...
Value range ?

In 1950, Stevens stopped making the 22-410, and Savage introduced the same gun as the Model 24 (from the wikipedia article). The exact markings may help narrow it down.
I have gotten a wealth of info on Savage24.com.
NSN = pre-1968
Case-colored receiver I am guessing late 1950s/early '60s. Would have to see it; sometimes you can get a 'feel' for a gun just by looking at and handling it.
There should be a oval with 2 numbers or 1 number and a letter stamped on the gun the letter is the year works on all models even the guns made for Sears
Usually, it is behind the hinge pin on the barrel(s) or ahead of the trigger guard on the bottom of the frame.

Thank you for the input...I found the little oval and it has 4B in it,
so I assume that is April of 1950 ?
Again Gentlemen, thank you for your knowledge and assistance !!!!
I think the number is just a inspection number as far as I know only the letter has anything to do with Date
