A common, cunning linguist. He mastered many tongues. Now he eases gently from his Austin to his Bentley. And suddenly he feels so young. I can't deny it, with that smile on her face..

And now your learning, what's a knocking at your back door

Sorry. Linguist makes me go to Deep Purple Everytime.

Теперь понимаешь! I have been speaking Russian for the past 33 years. It didn't hurt my Russian when I married a native born Russian 20 years ago tomorrow.

The reason for my asking is that a friend and fellow forum member, oldmagics , is making the grips for two of my antique pistols. One, a Williamson single shot derringer, he sent me an exploded view with parts named. Unfortunately it is (I know now) in Russian.

You made my wife's day. She actually was 27 when we got married.

Понимать is the basic word. It means "to understand". The endings change depending on how it is being used.

    Понимаю means "I understand"

    Понимаешь means "you (singular) understand"

You wrote, "Теперь понимаю" which means "Now I understand"

I wrote, "Теперь понимаешь" which means "Now you understand".

My favorite line from the 007 movies was from Miss Moneypenny: "You always were a cunning linguist, James".
