well few miles in, drove down I 77 to the next exit past fancy gap, about 10 miles in NC. granddaughter went down to stay with her dad for few weeks before school starts back up, I honked the horn at Sam, and Ricci but never saw them wave back, guess I was probubly closer to allen than anyone. Took the new truck and got 25.7 miles to gallon over the mountains down and back, not bad for full size truck with A/C and running 70 mph............

Hillbille, that's a pretty drive. Done it a few times to visit my son in Cornelius and Charlotte. When he was going to UWV quite a few years back I took Route 33 from Central Virginia to Harrisburg to Morgantown. Also, a beautiful drive but Morgantown hardest place I ever seen to get to headed West. 33 is one twisting mountain road-----------------------------------Ray
Hillbillie, next time you come, I’d like to meet you in Princeton and buy you dinner.
Had a relative from down that way- Fries VA (pronounced as Freeze) During WW2 he got drafted. Family name Snow. Reporting in to basic training, 1st Sgt said "Last name, First name, home town." Cousin said "Snow, Frost, Freeze VA" Without looking up, 1st Sgt said "2 weeks KP, funny boy. NEXT!"
Nice!
We are both way East of you, he more than me.
we had a kid in boot that had the misfortune of his father being a guard at San Quentin. Pretty much the same situation for him
my sister lives in Athens, she retired from concord college, we will be back down that way in about 5 weeks to pick grandkids back up will try and get with you Jim, we ate at a mexican restraunt on way home, it was beside the old ryans in princeton.......
Great! I’m looking forward to it.
Next time any of you folks head south towards Mount Airy I suggest you try out 13 Bones for a great meal. Come early as there is always a long line after say 5 pm.
Hillbillie,if you were 10 miles south of Fancy gap you were very close to Mayberry as in Andy Griffith show.
used to drive by there on my way home from camp Lejune in my younger days, though it has grown up considerable since then...........
