I got talked into going to a gun show 90 miles away. I'm used to the "good old days" so expectations were low. But..........even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then. I came across this surplus Ruger Mini 14GB from Angola prison (Louisiana). It's a 1988 gun. Cool old gun with a story, if only it could talk. The guy had two, plus one model 37 riot shotguns from Angola.
Performed function test this afternoon, it's a keeper.

VERY NICE looking forward to hearing how she shoots
Now that's just way cool right there!!!
i would have got the shotguns
Not a GB without the folding stock.
Well, I don't care that it ain't a shotgun or that it doesn't have a folding stock. It's frikkin' cool AND has a history!
I have a (trade in) AR-15 that still has the Virginia Beach Police Department property tag on the stock. Guy was looking at it on day on the range, commented on the tag. Looked him straight in the eye, said "Well, they shouldn't have left it in an unlocked police car."
Quickly walked away, giving me strange looks.
That is super cool.
I would bet it has a lot of miles on horseback
It’s my understanding that GB was short for “government barrel” which meant bayonet lug and flash hider. ? Bill Ruger thing
The shotgun had a great look but no real provenace, tag or significant engraving etc. and it was 8 bills. Almost bought it, but Kasey - Locust Fork has about 15 of my guns in play, trying to thin the beard but +1 this weekend.
Well. someone has to say it, I think the 37 would pattern better! ( my mini is a police trade in but without the history)😉
