They play ads on the radio here all the time. Some lawyer that won't charge you unless he wins.
Can't think of the name, but I'll pay attention and pass it along.
Good luck with your endeavors.
Time share freedom group! We set you free! Don
Why, yes! That's it.
Biggest rip off know to man, timeshare.
I got stuck with one because a family member wanted it. They got tired of it & stopped paying for it. I went on line to the county court & found records for many, many repos. So I called several numbers until I reached the right person. I told her we weren't paying any more & that they should repo it. Oh, but we have proceedures. Finally had her laughing that I was so earnest about not paying & wanting to give it back. (Funny that she didn't want it for herself.) She put it straight in for auction where they buy it back themselves.
Dont know if its the biggest, but its pretty damn close.
These things should be illegal. They are very predatory and take advantage of older people that don't know what they are getting into. My husband's parents had one that they paid into, upgraded, paid maintenance fees and lost a HUGE amount of money on. It was so bad, the one time we actually went on vacation with them they had a meeting with all of us. I was sure they were going to try selling something to us, but NOOOOOO....it was a meeting just to notify us that Larry's parents had the super platinum triple gold membership and somehow some rat had sold them MORE time and it was so over the top they had to let us know what was going on. They went on maybe three vacations, but lost tens of thousands of dollars. It was beyond ridiculous.
Larry's sister took over their finances shortly after that.
I understand the concept and it seems like a great thing to be able to pick a place to have an adventure here and there....but they have no business selling some of the things they do to people who don't understand what they are getting into.
Dano, you reminded me of how we used to mess with them in the Poconos (Pa) to get the free gifts. It was a fun date. Once I contacted the state regarding a bait & switch; they could care less.
Thru a couple of presentations at myrtle beach... I kept saying it was too good to be true, had them hooked like a grouper. Took the free gifts and went home. That one microwave lasted forever.
Yep. Took a nice vacation in Savannah on their dime. About gave the kids a heart attack. I reassured them my wallet was closed and I was just there for the trip. Salesman couldn't explain why I would need to pay a maintenance fee to stay in a hotel chain, would hold "title" to a square inch of property or a multitude of other questions I had to include how high the maintenance fees might get to be.
Been sorting through my parents “investments”. These things are horrible, but can be cleaned up individually without resorting to another shyster and the “get rid of your timeshare” deal. It takes some effort, plus patience, and depends in large part on how (un) desirable the specific time share is.
...Time Share used to be advertised around here, but dont hear about 'em anymore...
...A guy that worked for me went to one of the presentations because he would be given a recliner as gift for just listening.
When the presentation was over, a line formed at the exit door...as he got closer to the end of the line, people were being given a box that was about 2" x 14" x 24"..."WTH is this" he asked..."It's your recliner" was the reply...as he went outside he opened the box...it was a wire framed, cloth covered thingie that opened...you would open it, set it on the ground/floor , and lean against it...a "recliner" 😁...LMAO
Friend was terminal so he went for several, got all the free stuff, even signed up once. He said they cant collect from a dead man.
We went to one, also. Nice mountain resort. We got a free weekend stay and a round of golf for two. When it came to the hard sell and all the added fees and such, I asked them: "Why would I pay several thousand dollars for a designated one-week stay when I can book into the hotel right next door any week I choose for half as much?"
He kept up the hard sell/guilt trip but I kept asking the same question - without ever getting an answer. (Naturally, there wasn't any logical answer to that question.)
As to how to get out of one, I can't help. Wish I could. Those slimeballs write some very iron-clad contracts.
