new interstate I-14

varianvarian Member Posts: 2,263 ✭✭✭✭

looks like we may be getting a new east/west interstate that doesn't go thru Atlanta. proposed route from Augusta to El Paso going thru Macon, Ga. instead of Atlanta. I'll probably never see it but some of you may. Enjoy.

There was supposed to br an interstate 73 built near here. They started talking about it 20 years ago and all they’ve do is put up a few signs.

Maybe Biden’s infrastructure bill will get it done. Yeah, right.

By the time they finish, then Macon will be just as bad as Atlanta! Not too far behind Atlanta at this point.🤢

Not much is going to actually get done with that 550 billion, that's what now a days three miles of Interstate and half a bridge?

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Atlanta needs an elevated drive over. Get on north of town and off south. No other access points.

Eisenhower's original plan for Interstate highways was to bypass the busy urban areas and create highways that could be used to move people and supplies quickly from one area of the country to another. It was supposed to be up to the states and urban centers to create feeder roads in and out of their big cities if they wanted thig. But, of course, the but urban areas cried and moaned until the plan for InterSTATE highways became polluted with InterCITY highways paid for by federal funds of course.
