3 Brothers fell in a manure pit and died, in southern Mercer Co. Ohio. This was close to ST. Henry OH, about 15 min. north of us.
No reason given yet what happened or how all 3 fell in. What a horrible way to go.
We had a farmer in this area die like that when his tractor slid into a manure pit. He was in the cab of his John Deere, and there was no way to get him out.
THE 3 BROTHERS WERE IN THEIR 30'S WORKING ON THE PIT WHEN A PIPE BROKE AND THEY FELL IN. tHE LOCAL FIRE DEPT. SENT A MAN IN A WET SUIT IN AFTER THEM AND GOT THEM ALL OUT. 2 WERE DOA, AND THE 3RD WAS TAKEN TO FT WAYNE INDIANA WHERE HE ALSO PASSED AWAY.

TERRIBLE, 🙁
Im betting methane gas, got one and the rest tried to help?
OSHA is going to have a field day with this. Where I worked, stringent precautions had to be taken before work like this could be performed. Double block valves, skimmers, pre arranged self rescue, confined space entry controls, etc.
Prayers for the victims and their families.
Edit: Many farming operations like this are not subject to OSHA rules.
Yes I bet it was the methane gas.
Terrible
Drowning in water would be bad, but ...
its not far from us and least one was friends with my youngest son my youngest works on a hog farm about 10 miles from the farm this happed one , he said they were just talking last week about the farm and hogs
terrible and prayers to the family's and friends
.

That's the way it usually goes.
My wife said that the 2 older brothers were not married. The youngest one was married with 2 children and one on the way. 😥

"OSHA is going to have a field day with this"...................why, this is obviously covid related
Holy yikes!
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I'm sure they were aware of the risks............
hind sight and second guessing is always the best
I would wager most any one would have tried to save a family member throwing caution aside and knowing danger emotions take over
I used to teach Confined Space Entry. One of the major problems that I talked with my students about was the "Pile of bodies at the bottom of the tank". One guy collapses, his buddy goes to help, etc. Happens WAY too often.
