It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

I remember the day....I was leaving for College the next morning..
For some reason that song was in my head earlier today.
1:40 and 2:40 good times
Funny how we seem to remember exactly what we were doing during such events. My wife and I had just picked up a new puppy (English Springer Spaniel we named "Lady") from a small town about an hour away from home. We stopped at a Dairy Queen for a cone and got the news of Elvis's death from the counter girl who had the radio playing.
I like this version too

My wife and I were in Italian restaurant with another couple that were good friends and waitress started to cry and told my wife that Elvis had passed. Then my wife started to cry, and cry, and cry, and cry. For another hour and a half my wife had one drink after another. Took three of us to get my wife in the car. When I got home she passed out on me and I finally got her awake and she wrapped her arms around my neck and I dragged her into the house by myself and put her on the sofa. The only time in her whole life that she had too much too drink. Women do the craziest things.---------------------------Ray
1st off no way can I move that fast or smooth any more . being young is a great thing for sure
i remember his passing to me it was just another rags to riches to drugs story . his movies ah just a way to show case his singing but as a kid mom and dad took us to the drive in every new one he made . I agree he had tallent as a singer and still listed to his old songs not often but on occasion
JMHO too many of the famous people chose to follow the drugs maybe started out some what harmless trying to meet schedules stay awake, get some sleep seeking some new thrill in there life but it happens every day to Mr. and Miss joe average for many reasons also . some were just a waste of space and air some were just a tragic story that left a family wondering why
will add thank goodness drugs are illegal and have been for many decade's .. just think of how bad it would be if they were not .and people abused and ignored the law oh wait they do
Stopped at a friends house ,cb radio base station was on as usual . Heard a couple of truckers talking about it . Skip was running and they were in Memphis . We called the local rafio station to check if it was on the news ,,( knew the guy working that day ) .As we were talking the official news release came over the teletype machine . So we were the first in our area to learn of it .
