A good trip to Bass Pro today....New Shotgun for Dove hunting in a few weeks....PIC
I have been sorting my firearms and moving those I no longer wish to own.....trying to simplify things and enjoy my retirement years while I remain healthy and active...I posted a thread on buying a new shotgun a few months back and after shooting some different ones suggested and others owned by friends I made a decision...
Today I purchased a Left Hand Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 in 12 gauge. I love my old Ithaca and Remington pumps, but they sure have been hard on my shoulder these last few years. They had a left hand version so I figured while I was learning a new firearm, I might as well finally have one made for an old left hander like me...😀...
I am going to shoot some clays with my neighbor in the next couple of days. Hoping to get it figured out and ready to go for Dove season in a couple weeks....

Just remember, a lot of these new auto loaders, need hundreds of high brass through them before they'll cycle lowbrass reliably.
I have a newer Browning A5, one buddy a newer Winchester, and another a Benelli.
Buddie with the Benelli didn't start cycling low brass for 4 years.
This is my 3rd year with the Browning, and it still won't.
Both of us shoot hundreds of duck and goose loads a year. Buddy shoots a few turkey loads in the spring, to boot.
And then you hear of some fellas that theirs handle them from the first shot.
Edit to add, nice scattergun, and congrats!
Congrats on the new Benelli. I am one of those guys that Diver-Rig eluded to and have never had a new auto loader that didn't perform well right from the * go. Just lucky, I guess.
On another note, I got the Cabelas/Bass pro fall hunting sale flyer in the mail today. Wow! They must be having the same problem as the rest of us getting guns and ammo. What used to be several pages of guns is down to one Savage bolt action combo. No ammunition in the ad at all. What a disappointment, I always looked forward to their big hunting sale to take advantage of some of the loss leaders they had to get you into the store. Won't even think about going this year. Bob
Ouch!! 3" Mag. on doves? Your shoulder and upper chest will be black & blue😲
Great gun!
That being said, I doubt it will be "easy" on your shoulder as compared to a pump with wood furniture.
I have a Super 90 and a Super Black Eagle ,both H&K stamped.
They have a bit of a "push" to them.
They use the recoil to cycle, not the gases like a Rem 11/87 would.
I fear that you might have quite a bit of felt recoil.
I'm hoping I'm wrong.
Enjoy, should handle 1 1/8 oz dove loads just fine. That and you can clean in at the end of the hunting season.
