Effin drunk drivers!

redneckandyredneckandy Member Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭✭

Night before last friends of mine were heading home on their motorcycle and got hit by a drunk. He is tore up pretty bad and she is not expected to make it another 24-48 hours. They have three kids under 12 years old. I just don't know what to think right now.

The drunk took off on foot and was found passed out in a gas station bathroom. He wasn't injured.

I hope your friend and his wife make it . terrible news for all involved

so sad I have gotten where I do not trust even driving any more all the distracted drivers on top of the drunk / high drivers on the road

sad part I bet dollars to doughnuts the POS who did has no insurance or a pot to pee in and most likely a long list of citations and no drivers license .

Prayers for the family. That hits home , Wife and I was hit head on by a drunk yrs. ago and survived. Took Cops time to get there. We went to hospital in the ambulances. Only thing Chief told me when I went and picked up my pistol that was in the glove box... It took a strong person NOT to shoot the drunk. My reply.. not ruining our lives over a Drunk. Drugs and Drunk don't belong on the highways.

    Sad news. Prayers sent

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

Holy crap that's awful. Hope she makes it ok.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I lost my 23 year old step brother back in 1984 to a drunk driver. He was hit head on on a 4 lane highway where the drunk crossed all the lines. It was opening day of deer season and he was returning home at the college dorm he was living at. The only good news about the accident was the drunk also perished. He was also an uninsured broke deadbeat. Being a senior in school, the college issued my step mom his degree posthumously.

The funeral was closed casket. The impact decapitated poor Charlie.

I DESPISE drunk drivers. Have had two relatives lose family members to drunk drivers.

Wife and I almost lost our lives to a drunk back last fall. The drunk passed an off duty detective on a double yellow line. Det. called it in and dept. was trying the catch the guy.

He hit a lady in a cross walk and sped away from that scene. I was at a four way light and was making a left turn, the drunk running from the first accident whet around all of the cars and hit us head on at about 60 mph. I had no where to go, by the time I saw him and it was under a bridge we were trapped.

The drunk fled the scene and swam across a river taunting the police from the other side. The police tried to track him with a dog but could not find him. He turned himself in the next day and is still in jail as far as I know.

The whole bed of his pickup was littered with beer and other drink type cans.

The police said if it had not been for us being in my wife's Lexus RX350 we probably would have been dead.

The guy behind us who helped us was an EMT on a motorcycle. He was pretty nervous when he came to our car because he said he would have been killed by the drunk.

I think people who drive drunk and kill someone should be charged with murder. I would argue for 1st degree but at a minimum it should be 2nd degree.

What is the difference between a gun, knife or a car, some got killed.

Yeah, those, distracted drivers and the newer add of high drivers had me in to the H-D dealer to get an estimate on selling the motorcycles. :(

SF- On one of the true-crime shows I saw a story where a guy ran out of gas near his home so he had his two young sons (10-12 yrs old) push him home. A drunk came sailing along and crashed into the rear of the car, killing both boys. The dad jumped out and drug the drunk out of the car, the wife and mother came screaming out of the house, and it was real chaos. Somehow a gun showed up and the drunk was shot dead. No gun was recovered by police. The dad was charged with murder. He was acquitted, to everyone's relief.

Everyone knew who the shooter was, but they had to go through the trial for appearances sake. It was assumed that a quick-thinking cop had quietly taken the gun and disposed of it.

I taught at one of the schools that had lost students in the Carrolton Church Bus Crash in '88. 27 fatalities when a drunk driver hit the bus head-on on the interstate.

One teacher showed up for class Monday morning to discover she had lost something like six kids from her first period class .

I remember seeing the burn victims after they returned to school.

So many lives changed so quickly because of bad decisions.

There is nothing I can say to ease the pain; we can only assure those victims that if the chance arises we will do what we can to prevent or punish impaired driving.

Right at midnight, had a drunk run a traffic light, caught the rear quarter panel of my car, spun it sideways. Was trying to convince me not to call the cops, and that we could work it out. How drunk WAS he? I was a uniformed police officer. The car he hit was a marked police car. Yeah, he WAS drunk.

Until drunks that cause death and injury are treated like they shot someone it will continue. Even after stiff jail terms are imposed others will be stupid enough to drink and drive.

At 19 I lost a good friend who drove a city wrecker. I was suppose to be with him that night for calls . He was helping an old woman change a tire on the road side.. wrecker lights on.. and a drunk side swiped the car. He was killed instantly , He left a widow and two children.
