With very little ammo to be had will gun prices go down. Is now the time to thin the herd?

I don't see gun prices going down anytime soon, IMO.

Jtrent, keep the guns, sell some chainsaws. Stihl dealers are having a hard time getting new saws.

Everyone's situation is different. I thinned earlier this year...lower end/common stuff that I rarely shoot. Freed up some safe space and $ for new acquisitions while also making the spouse happy. Figure I can replace at reasonable cost if I ever need to do so. Also sold several thousand rounds - 9mm, .45, and 22 WMR - at crazy prices, and still have sufficient supply to keep up with my range visits.

I decided too sell a few, test the waters… Kasey is doing great with the shiny gun… I say sell right now.

Maybe some are looking in different places, but I see gun prices going down. Especially the ones chambered for scarce or expensive ammo.

IE: Ruger 57s. Price lowered to around $550 - $599. With ammo hard to find and over a dollar a round, no one wants them.

Have also seen the more common 9mms drop as well.

I've bought a couple of 16ga shotguns the past couple of weeks. One I did okay on another I thought the total was more than the gun was really worth. But also being 16ga and that ammo being really limited they sold for less than the market is asking for more popular gauges right now. I have noticed some decent buys on less than popular brands/models. I posted a link to an old savage 20ga pump I thought was sell cheap enough. If I hadn't just bought the 2 I did I would have picked it up.

Sold off a G27 (that's the .40S&W?) at nearly what I paid with tax and paperwork in that seller's market. Had I known my bro's daughter got a CCW I would've given that to her. She could swap out the barrel in 9mm (not that any ammo could have been had). Instead she's packing some 9mm Taurus.

I don't think the Democrats will win the next election. The administration that follows Biden will probably be less likely to pass any gun laws, which will quell the thought of anything being hard to get at that time and cause prices to fall a bit if not just be steady. The fact that supplies are still a bit dry are making things sell for a bit more and stores are still struggling to stock items....making the internet sales more active and prices are up for online sales. The recent news stories covering every shooting, making it look like every public place is a shooting gallery is helping keep things up as well.

So, if you have things you are planning to sell....NOW is the time, but it can all change at any moment. If you wait a while I think you will end up having to wait a few years before you can expect to get what you might at this time.....I don't have a crystal ball, but from what we've seen happen this is my thought on things.

I agree %. The retail prices are coming down I am told by the guys running stores and more ammo is available, but the prices on GB for used guns is remaining high. That too will change so NOW is the time to sell.
