Abandon the Ponderosa???😮
I used to live in that area back in the early 1980's. An absolutely gorgeous place. Just another democrap screw up.
Seems bad.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Not going to be so beautiful there for years to come.
Too bad.
Wind shifted and picked up, it's burning up the east side of Hwy 50, about 1.5 miles from the south shoreline. 35mph wind is pushing right in line with the houses and casinos. South Lake is already covered in ash and burning embers. Foot crews have been cutting fire lines for the last 40hrs trying to save houses.
They don't learn anything, same conditions as the Paradise fire, pine trees to close together, and too close to houses. They have restrictions on tree cutting, and brush clearing around your house and property. The last fire near there, one old lady in a small subdivision told em to pound sand, and had a perimeter cleared around her house. Right about the time they were going to drag her into court, and fine her out of existence, a fire blew through that subdivision. Her house was the only one still standing, and unscathed.
Sad part about this fire, is more stupidity. When it started, the CalFire Chiefs insisted that it get hit with a maximum effort when it was only 700 acres. The operations commander left the Command Center, to go see for himself, because he had some relatives there. Blew off the recommendations of his ground crews. The next morning it was 30,000 acres, 0% containment, 60,000 the next morning. They had to pull 35 Units off the Dixie Fire to assist on this one. Now it's almost 200,000 acres,16% containment, and they are about to lose South Lake Tahoe.
They only break the crews will get to save it, is tonight when the temps cool, and the wind will slow down and shift to the SW. I'm sure I won't see the sun rise tomorrow morning when all that smoke fills the central valley, it's getting to be a regular thing.
A lot of places such as California and Colorado were gorgeous places to live before the democrats moved in.
