This little fella came and landed on my tile saw today while it was running! Twice! I was cutting a tile and he landed pretty close to where the blade was running. I shut the saw off and talked to him then went in the house and got the camera. He was still sittin' there and let me get a couple pics of him. Anyone know what kind of bird it is?
He was very calm and was picking at something in the tank of the saw. He even let me touch him once.

Looks like a sparrow to me. Never had one get that chummy.
Looks like a young one
Cool!
A bird needs some grit to add to help digest tough seeds. The water and small grounds were good for him
Some of those small rounds are like shards of glass though.
Cute.
Some of them are shards of glass! I've been cutting glass tiles as well as porcelain.
I got to lookin' at some pictures of birds in this area and I believe the little guy is a pine siskin.
Funny it comes to the running saw. We were cutting up some 2x4's with a chop saw out at my friends place in the country. Every time we fired it up, a dozen Jake turkeys would come running right to the saw, with us standing there.
Neo, sure looks like a Siskin. They use to be thick around here, and all over the west coast. I think I read something about their population taking a hard hit from salmonella passed around at bird feeders and baths.
...English Sparrow...
Tail's too short and is forked plus he didn't have the light chest, his had bars.
