Both Ford and GM are extending pickup manufacturing shutdowns due to (still) lack of microchips.

It's my opinion that china is deliberately stopping/slowing down production to screw up the rest of the world in their attempt for world domination.

It is another reason for the recent increase in China's saber rattling about taking over Taiwan because that is where a lot of the chips are made. If they do that they will control a large majority of the current chip making capability not just for transportation but just about everything else in this modern world, from phones to appliances and even military equipment. For decades U.S. corporations have been moving manufacturing and technology overseas to make higher profits. Now look where we are.

Yep, the vultures are coming home to roost....
A new plant is under construction in the Bay City area of Michigan, they will be the new supplier of chips beginning next year.
I sure hope manufacturers have learned a lesson from all of this.
I hope so Gregor62 but I doubt it.
Trade there dependence from China to a South Korean company they learned nothing.
My statement about lessons learned was not isolated to chip manufacturing.
I get your point about offshore owners, but who else stepped up to the plate?
The auto industry put all of their eggs in one basket in several offshore partnerships, and they're being handed their butt right now.
Corporate America has tunnel vision.
Could the unions have possibly caused all this "over seas" mfg. approach?
The Ford trucks (about 1000 of them) that was stored a couple of miles from me on some vacant ground where moved about a month ago. I don't know if they finally got chips for them or are just storing them somewhere else. There were trucks parks in many locations around here as there is a Ford assembly plant in Louisville.
It' always the weakest link in any supply line. Ball bearings in WW II was a big One.Just wait until when Gasoline goes up to 5.OO Dollars a a gallon. Remember, if you have your health, you have just about everything

I could not care less about a shortage of fifty thousand dollar pickup trucks. I do care about a shortage of chips or anything else this country needs that we have to rely on some other country to make. We deserve better from the federal government who waste time on all kinds of crap that they have no business sticking their noses in.
Anyone else remember a few years ago when Ford proudly declared their future?
I just saved a bundle by not buying a over priced truck.
When the chips are down......buy American! Remember back in the day if you drove a foreign car or truck you had to always make sure your tires weren't slashed or your paint job "keyed" before you left it parked. There is no such thing as a 100% American built car or truck these days.
At the later stages of our previous President Trump's term in office there was much talk about getting all of our drug making operations out of China. Today I hear nothing but crickets chirping. Big Corporate needs to have their butts on a platter for leaving the states. NAFTA was a plan that started much of this take away of our jobs and as we all know who those planners were. Their agenda seems to be moving right along today putting US Citizens into bread lines.
