It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

My how time flies.
as a kid I remember watching as many more I know . as corny as it was cheap special effects . it opened a door to what the universe might be and what what we may may achieve some day in the distant future it held my attention to the endless possibilities
what I also found a bit odd even as a kid also that capt kirk no matter what galaxy what species or color he would find a willing female partner he sure did spread free love if nothing else 😁
I remember my dad thought it was was stupid but then again if it was was not a country music variety show or a ocassional western every thing was just a waste of TV .
he never watched it maybe a minute or two as I was watching but being a dad he put up with me watching it that and along with the rest of us kids watching cartoons and Christmas specials . he told me once when I was very young watching any move more that once no matter what it was or how good he had no interest in it .
same with the radio if not country music it was turned off
one last thought about the old shows now we have automatic doors that open and close as we pass thru , cell phones , stun guns , ,computers that talk back and answer and solve questions, were exploring space even if just a drop in the barrel were doing it
besides all the women they way they dressed in the show mini skirts super tight outfits , would be a bit sexist now LOL
Back in the day I only got to watch a few episodes from Star Trek because something else on another channel was considered more important to our folks.
At the time I found Lost In Space kept me coming back for more each week. Seeing reruns today of this show really tells me how starved I must have been for entertainment as a young kid! 🤔 I admit that seeing about all of the original Star Trek series later as an adult, the show at least did hold my interest.
The women officers of the Enterprise lacked the one thing that we see a lot more of today and I have never heard anyone say anything about it being sexist. (but I'm sure it is) And that one thing is CLEAVAGE!
Star Trek was a show well ahead of its time. I know all the episodes. And yea Kirk ALWAYS ended up with the hot women, green, blue or whatever. And they had some lookers. One of the shows of the future I really enjoyed.
Could not imagine the wild STD's that Captain Kirk risked getting from nailing those alien women.
My flip phone looks just like the "communicators" the folks on the Enterprise utilize, making one believe that the cell phone was invented on Star Trek.
One of the favorite episodes was when tasked with treating an injured living rock creature with plaster of Paris, Doctor McCoy barks..... " Damn It Jim, I'm a Doctor Not a Brick Layer ! ".
Or when guest-star Frank Gorshen is the black-white faced alien fighting with the other guy with the opposite face scheme. Yeah, and there was a message there, of course.
Always thought that it would be cool to have one of those intensity adjustable phazer weapons.

Yea, that was a great one. And in the end the creatures (Orta) ? ended up helping the miners with Spock's mind meld with one of them I believe.
I would pay a grand to see Spock "mind meld" with Joe, Nancy or A. Cortez !!🤣

There has to be a mind there to meld with first!
How many spinoff series were there from that show? Star Trek TNG, Voyager, DS9, Enterprise, Discovery, and a whole bunch of movies. Certainly made a lot of money over the years.
Even though my wife's not a 'Trekkie', one of her favorite expressions is 'Dammit, Jim' when something goes a bit awry. Cracks me up!
You would be safe going down to a planet,,, unless you were wearing a RED shirt.
Trivia:: Majel Barrett (Roddenberry in 1969) started as #1 in the pilot. Then played Nurse Chapel in the series & movies. She was also the ship's computer voice and later played Lwaxana Troi in the spin offs.
Oh yea! Star date xxxxxx, Captains log: Spock, McCoy, Myself, and Crewman Bartholomew are all beaming down on planet XB43.
Poor poor Crewman Bartholomew! 😂
The black side face/white side face is one of the most powerful episodes out there. Imagine that airing when the civil rights movement was going. It sure sent a message.
