On the front of the anvil is a circular spring that holds the socket in place. Mine is worn to where it won't hold the socket in place anymore.
So, what's it called? Who sells it?
Thanks.

are you talking a air hammer ?
I think it's gonna depend on the brand and size of tool that you have.
I believe it is called a socket retaining ring. Any quality tool store/industrial supplier that sells name brands, such as Ingersol-Rand should have these.
Here are some. https://www.google.com/search?q=impact+wrench+socket+retaining+ring&oq=Impact+wrench+socket+&aqs=chrome.9.69i57j0i512l9.16914j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Time to just get a new gun.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

It's called a Hog ring. Google the manufacturer and add Hog ring like...
"Craftsman 1/2" replacement hog ring"
Friction ring. Some have a rubber ring under em.
they have them for 1/4 , 3/8, and 1/2
