    I remember it well.. I used to live on Long Island at that time, maybe 30 miles outside of NYC, we were shut off from most ways to get off the Island which is about 15/20 miles wide in most places and about 125 miles long with (IIRC) maybe 6.5 million total residents in the two NYC counties Brooklyn and Queens along with the two independent counties Nassau and Suffolk that make it up.

    You could leave by a couple of east end and one centrally located ferries but they had very, very low capacity, or by private boats of which there are hundreds of thousands it seems. the biggest concern was food deliveries and Gasoline.

    lucky for us the sealing off go the outgoing bridges and tunnels did not last too long, but it was upsetting to have to pass through police blockades in the early days after the attack.

    when we first left the Island to visit relatives a couple of weeks or so later our route took us through N.J. and the N.J. turnpike while driving south it was very disturbing looking over towards Manhattan and not seeing the Twin Towers a sight we had always seen since they were built.

    One of the many horrific stories told to us was by a friend, a young lady who worked a few blocks from the towers and her recalling actually seeing several people jump/fall from them, she had nightmares about it for a very long time.

    UNITED WE STAND-DIVIDED WE FALL was true then and we stood united-- today we are so very divided I am afraid for our country. The 2022 2024 elections need to won and control given back to honest, patriotic, American conservatives who can right this floundering ship before it is too late.
