Just acquired my first M1 Garand- from an estate. Very nice H&R from (I think) 1956. Came with a good sized box of ammo. Most in en bloc clips- but have 10 boxes of Caliber 30 MATCH- M72, headstamped 1961,
- Is this suitable for Garands? If not, have a Rock Island 1903 and an Eddystone 03A3 that will appreciate it.
- Is this corrosive primed?
Appreciate any insights.
Comments
1) I believe it was designed for use in M1 Garands.
2) It should not be corrosive unless marked as such.
3) there is some collector value to that ammo.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Excellent non corrosive ammo for your new M1. Enjoy your rifle. H&R (HRA to collectors) is my favorite of the four manufacturers.
I believe the last corrosive .30 ammo was some special match ammo head stamped F A 5 6.
Terrible ammunition for you Garand, especially a HR version. I will gladly take if you hand for a nominal fee🙃
Can you post photos of your rifle? I'd like to see it.
Mark- will do when I get camera out (have antique cell phone) Also scored a VERY nice Colt Cobra, and a still-in-the- box S&W Mdl 29.
