For those of you that think it is appropriate, a small prayer might help too.

After months of planning and a lot of volunteer help our cancer benefit clay shoot is tomorrow. Lunch has been arranged, raffle prizes on display, silent auction items ready, 20 flats of shells already loaded in my Acadia, and a lot of other things set. Not sure what we will raise this year but I usually am pleasantly surprised by the generosity of our shooters. Last year we raffled a little red wagon with 10 flats of shells. With the shell shortage and doubling of prices there wasn't anyway of doing that this year. I was barely able to get enough reasonably priced shells for the actual shoot. So right off the bat we are down about a thousand bucks from what we raised last year. If that is all we are down, I will be a happy camper.

Every year we think that we have had enough and aren't going to have another shoot. Then we hear from someone that benefited from the fund we donate to. Perhaps a medicine co-pay, maybe a wig for a patient, even a car repair so they can get to their chemo or radiation treatment. Dammit! We are hooked again and schedule another shoot. Sometimes being a sucker can give you a feeling of accomplishment. 😀 Bob
