Gunpowder Availability
The 2 local gun shops I frequented are now closed so I have to find new sources. I am low on five powders: IMR4198, H4350, H322, Varget, and Benchmark. A friend stopped at a GS that is about 50 miles away and they had the IMR4198 and the H4350 ($39 and $40 + tax). I made the 70 mile trip yesterday to check out three gun shops where I've bought stuff before. The first one had Varget @ $45 + tax. The next 2 had no smokeless powder at all! The trip was far from a loss since I got some 50 gr. Hornady SX bullets for my .222's @ $12/100 and some Hornady 55 gr. SPBT @$15/100. Also, at the last place, I got a good price on a Ruger American .243 that came home with me. Nobody seemed to have primers but I'm pretty well set for primers. My wife and I had lunch at a quaint little town and she had a chance to cruise some of the shops so we are both happy. (Of course I still need H322 & Benchmark.)

Dont expect primers to be readily available until next year and then some.
I just made a 3 week trip from Springfield, Mo. to Maine and through Virginia back to Arkansas. I stopped at most of the Bass Pro / Cabelas stores along the way. I bought the only brick of small pistol primers that I saw, and found a few cans of powder.
Local auctions have powder, but it's high dollar & local pick-up only.
Only thing Ive found lately is IMR 4166l Ive run through 2 pounds of it and am pretty happy with it. With .270 and 30.06 I get about 165 shells per pound.
Last week I bought a pound of H 4831 and a pound of H 110.I paid for it with a 100 dollar bill and got 3 dollar change back.Ouch. I have part of a can of Unique in the cabinet that still has a $3.96 price sticker on it.
I'll give you enough to double your money on the unique............
