Hot Iron!

Seam iron, that is. Getting the carpet laid in the main living room.
If I'm rememberin' correctly, I used to be a lot quicker at this and it wasn't nearly as much work!
Just finished the seam, gonna stretch it in tomorrow.
You can see the new tile to the right of the carpet. I wanted to use 24"x48" tiles but the floor wasn't quite flat enough for those so we went with the 12"x24" instead.
All the furniture you see is temporary for during the remodel. The new stuff is gonna be delivered sometime next week.

Nice, very nice. Did you do the fireplace ??
Nice!
Congratulations on achieving your goals and dreams!
It looks amazing!
Thanks!
No, that was already in. My wife wants to tear it out because she doesn't care for the round rocks. I just looked at her and said a resounding NO! She sees me do things and make it look easy so she thinks everything is easy. I am going to give it a coat of 'wet look' sealer. That'll bring out more of the colors in the stone.
I agree with your wife. I don't like the look of those round rocks used for masonry.
Yeah? Well, it still ain't comin' out! Phhhtttt!
I'd like to get bobcat mounted so it looks like he's leaping from the stone shelf on the left of the chimney area to the one on the right. Maybe a couple of grouse on the right one...
Very nice !!!!! Great space
Lookin' good! I like the rock fireplace a lot too!
very nice and super nice fireplace
one project I never tackled was carpet laying , I knew the basics from working construction and spending time and asking a thousand questions with the floor gangs doing tile and carpet a lot of hard working guys I learned a lot from them I am sure there all departed by now this was way back in my early years , I will say any one who does it for very long there knees and back have a short life span ( mine did from other construction work ) I tip my hat to the people who can make it look great congrats
You are a craftsman, nice,
Stretched, trimmed, tucked, and approved by my quality control team! They gave it 8 paws up!
Odd shaped rooms can be a bugger, especially ones with no wall to stretch off of along one side. The curves in the tile don't help! Why do I do that to myself?
Thank you!
I've been doing construction work since 1981. Not strictly flooring, lots of finish carpentry, a bunch of remodels, some concrete, and a few houses.
After about 1995 my focus was on tile. Floors, walls, ceilings, showers. Luckily, for whatever reason, my knees and back have held up very well. My shoulders are another story. Some days it's hard to lift my arms much over my head. I think that came from all the time spent with a trowel in my hand spreading thinset mortar. I'm really in pretty good shape for 61 and been working like this since '81.
That's good for me to know, there is a construction tool that I have never used, or even heard of. A seam iron.
Interesting story.
Laying flooring is tough work. Looks good man!
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I've got more seams to make, Allen! Come on up and I'll edumacate you!
Thanks! I'm about tuckered out and still have another room to do on this level. Trying to get it done by Friday night when the 'boss' gets home from a vacation trip.
nice work you should be proud but then again I am sure you are there a feeling of self worth and accomplishment that comes with such things and good to hear your body is keeping up well
Very nice!
Good job!!!
