He was in his canoe and fishing a backwater area when he saw this hornet's nest in the trees near him...he knows I am allergic to bee stings so he sent me a pic of it...Since I was not there I invited him to go ahead and hit it just to satisfy his curiosity as to what would happen. His reply was he was going to plug the hole and bring it to me......
I thanked him for thinking of me and declined his offer 😉

That's a cool pic, took me a second to see the vicious predator in the foliage.
Uhh yeah, NO
William! You have a package on your doorstep and it is buzzing! 😲😁
Everyone has noticed a real absence of yellowjackets, wasps and bald faced hornets around here this year. With the Italian prunes on the ground, there should be loads of yellowjackets feasting on the fermenting fruit and an equal number of bald faced hornets feasting on the yellowjackets. I doubt I've seen more than a dozen of the demonic little bastages all summer.
Plenty of "bastages" here, I have been hit several times and fellow weed eating the road bans and areas I can't get with mower can vouch for them to, OUCH
one of the old wives tales I have allways heard, is the higher the hornets build nests in a tree the colder the winter will be................
Had one of those the size of a soccer ball on the side of the house. Went out at night with the flashlight and pump sprayer and stuck it in the hole had sprayed them. Knocked it down next day and they had little apartments inside the cone. Not living rent free... 😀
Those hornet nests make great wadding in a muzzle loading smooth bore shotgun!!
