Dream question

I am interested to see if I am abnormal or not. I have very vivid dreams. Many are set in environments in which I have never walked. Most do not have me in them. It is as if I am watching a movie with a population of people I have never seen or known. Does anyone else dream this way?

Only 10% of people dream in COLOR.
What say you Susie?
Who’s to say what’s normal?
I have very vivid dreams, definitely in color, but not a movie theater setting as you describe.
early this morning I woke up, and in my dream I was having trouble walking up a giant set of wooden stairs, for some reason I was wearing ice skates.
I think it woke me up simply because it was such a ridiculous predicament for me to be in.
susie, I've had vivid dreams for most of my adult life. I'm in many of them. Some are from events decades ago and some are recent events. This may sound weird but before I retired, when I was having problems with completing the design of one of my projects, I would dream of the solution. Hey, I told you it would sound weird but it happened more than once.
OK, lock me up!
Susie, since my Grandpa died in '67 I dream about him every six months or so. My 1st Cousin and fishing buddy Calvin was KIA in Vietnam in '67 also. Don't know why but Grandpa is dressed in a white robe and he holds out his hand for me and steps down one step on a marble step. I don't know this place for sure and the others are faceless.
I suspect this place is Heaven and Grandpa is a greeter to lead me to Calvin.
Susie, possibly because you traveled a lot with your husband who was a GI, you dream about many different places. I think your dreams are normal.-----------------------Ray
Deep Deep Sleep. And yes
There is no "normal" says me. The mind works in so many ways it is impossible to figure, don't care about "experts." Yes, I think you are in the " absolute acceptable" range. I can say I have had so many "different" types of dreams in makes my "head spin."😨
i have had a recurring dream for many years, im standing in the middle of a bunch of snakes. sometimes im wade fishing and sometimes im in the woods near a large rock outcropping. ive never been bitten but all of a sudden there are snakes everywhere around me and im trying to get away.
I used to travel for work sometimes, this was before GPS, and having to find a specific store in a strange town could be exhausting at times especially if it was a big city. A lot of my dreams now are about this I will be driving and get lost in a big city and get that feeling of being late for work, or walking into a mall or building and not being able to find a certain person, since I retired doesn't bother me as much now, when I get in one of these dreams I almost get the feeling I am dreaming and just go off and do what I want...............
I've had recurring dreams that I am in a strange city wandering around trying to find my truck. I always wake up before I find it. 😥

I sleep with the TV on and find that many times the program that is airing influences my dreams. Sometimes in interesting ways.
The other night I dreamed I was awake but when I woke up, I was asleep and everything was in color.
I do not. Hope this helps Susie.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I often dream of being way up in the air on a catwalk, like 5 or 6 stories up at a mall, looking down over the side, then it falls over and I ride it clear to the ground. Psychiatrists say you'll always wake up before you hit? Not me, I know exactly what it feels like to fall that far and hit, I've done it dozens of times.
Or I'll be commercial diving and I have to fit through a small opening in an underwater cave where I have to push my tanks out ahead of me, then I have to immediately bend upward 90 degrees and there's not enough room, and I get stuck like I'm inside a cabinet. That one shocks me awake every time in a cold sweat. And I distinctly remember it's all lit up blue inside as I approach the opening.
In both dreams there are lots of other people I don't know, and it's first person as it happens.
I have a wide range of dreams some way more real than others I have nightmare's that would be great scary movies . I have dreams about friends and family who have departed but show up in my dreams and working or enjoying time together .
some the subject and dream's are completely just weird to say the least make no sense what so ever just a mix of random thoughts I guess
after retiring seven + years ago i still will have a dream about being at a old job
of course the dreams of ladies , enough said ( this is a public forum 😁 )
frustrating dreams where I am trying to fight , run or do in some one and can do nothing example my legs will not work th gun will not work, the car will not start so i am stuck with what ever I was trying to avoid
all my dreams come when very deep asleep REM sleep or what every they call it .
by the way when sleeping your brain will kick your body into neutral easy way to explain it so you do not hurt your self while asleep . I have woken up many times ( first times scared the crap out of me as a kid ) as my mind was locking out my movements but I was awake and could not move like I was completely paralyzed , I seen recent on one of the doctor shows ? they have some scientific name for it . and how it happens
I very, very rarely recall dreams.
As a preface. I'm really bad about bottling up stress and anger. I don't vent on those who deserve it. When it gets to the point of damn near too much I'll wake with the feeling of someone pressed against my back with her hand on my shoulder. This feeling is familiar, and I know who it is.
But one night about a year ago I dreamt there was a woman behind me. She wasn't pressed against my back, and her hand was on my side. Nothing about this felt familiar, but we lay there for what seemed hours discussing life and the universe.
Full on cinema in my dreams.
Two reoccurring dreams I have had are rather nightmarish. First one is that the government screwed up my retirement and I have to go back to work.
Second one is that I am naked in public and no one notices. 😳 In the dream I am always wondering how I forgot to put on clothes before I left the house. I haven't had that one in awhile.
Which leads to a real incident I had the other day. Living on the farm I do tend to go barefoot a lot. Grabbed my phone, keys and purse to drive to town. Stepped off the deck and realized I had no shoes on my feet. Slipped on my Birkenstocks and left again. I was clothed.
Some dreams a fairly detailed some aren't. I had Tramadol prescribed once for pain related to an injury. I had vivid color dreams when I took it.
Once I was dreaming that someone dangerous was in the house. I was in my own bed but in the dream I was sleeping in my son's room. I knew I had to wake up to protect my family. In my dream I was trying to force myself awake it was do or die so to speak. In reality I did force myself awake and opened my eyes while still in REM. For just an instance when my eyes were coming open the rapid movement was apparent. That was weird, i actually forced myself awake while in REM. Of course no one was in the house, in fact my son was at his mother's house and I was the only one home.
Dreamed I was falling but never hit the ground, fired a gun at an animal of some sorts and could see bullet fall short, very detailed dreams of somewhere I had never been and then later, years even, while traveling I would come upon the exact place I had dreamed about. Worst dream is dreaming about taking a leak, no further comment needed.😲
Immensely.

If you fall asleep with the news on you will probably have nightmares.
I had a friend in the gun club years ago who was a systems analyst for Avon in Suffern, NY. He had been working on a formula program for a cosmetic for over six months without success. One night at 2am in the morning the correct chemical combination came to him in a dream. He woke up and started to jump up and down on his bed screaming "I got it, I got it"and his wife thought he had lost his mind. He immediately got up, dressed and drove to the Avon plant about 40 minutes away. This was back in the days of punched cards and he worked on that program for about 12 hours straight as i recall and got it right. i am sure he got a big bonus for something that came to him in a dream.------------Ray
It's ok. So long as you don't dream that after searching for hours & hours & hours, you finally found a toilet.
