on a hand gun when it is not delivered per contract

i bought a hand gun through GB (xxx company) and received an E mail stating that it would be delivered on Friday (oct 2nd 21) , which would have been the 2nd day shipment through fed ex. i am still waiting. all fedex can tell me that it is in transit to my closest facility

why do we have to pay for 2nd day when it don't happen

The only way I've found for true 2nd day delivery is Alaska Airlines Gold Streak. Hand them the package and it goes on the next plane, period. It's spendy, but instead of two weeks to get a package to Bush Alaska "overnight express", it gets there within 24 hours. I understand Gold Streak works anywhere Alaska Air flies.

This Saturday I discovered that the toilet seat in the guest bath had a broken hinge (plastic) so I ordered a new seat from Amazon and it was delivered on Sunday (less than 24 hours) and shipping was free.

I have always thought the two day handgun shipping was total BS they could not trust the employees from stealing them so they force the public to cover there butts and pay more

very few things are fast when it comes to delivery and what I hear its about to get more costly and slow down even more, I have some packages that make the couple to three day shipping promise but getting rare , if you ask its just a target and if they miss that date well sorry crap happens

Lately, Fedex has been 50/50 on their delivery times..

    You are confusing different rules.

The "rules" for shipping by common carrier (Fedex & UPS) are a combination of Federal regulations AND "tariffs" made up by the common carriers for business purposes. Most handguns must be sent "Next Day Air" (NOT 2nd day) because the carriers want to protect themselves against loss of handguns by their employees. Next Day Air items are kept by the carriers in their "valuables lockers", so it is unlikely that they can get lost at the hub before they leave at night. Next Day Air is expensive, but is not necessarily next day; the carriers write the tariffs, take it or leave it.

Large volume shippers negotiate contracts with the common carriers. Rates & shipping times are negotiated. Federal regulations always apply.

Shipping anything today is problematic. It is world wide. Container ships are stacked up at Ports of Entry. Trucks & truckers are in short supply in the US. Hundreds of thousands of cars are sitting in parking lots, unable to drive without a computer chip. USPS has given up; they are raising rates & lowering delivery times. Be patient, there's little that any of us can do to speed deliveries.

This pretty well covers the issue. Paper trail, responsibility, and CYA.
