I had one of those "This is cool moments today"

Not as cool as a moose in the driveway, but just a beautiful moment.....

I woke up just before sunrise and headed out to feed the cat and set up on the porch as I do most days...I looked around the corner into the back yard and there were 4 deer between the house and cellar house eating acorns. There was just enough light to see their outline and I was within 50 feet of them...I watched for about 3 minutes before one of them finally got the willies and turned and walked away....

I had a camera, but did not want to disturb them, hoping maybe they will come back again....It was a good start to the day !!!

Cool, it's nice to see that stuff. We have a pod of about six deer that hang around here. Often we watch them standing up on their hind legs plucking apples from the neighbor's apple tree across the road.

Delightful start to the day. I am a little envious. With all my critters, I am sure I will never have the delight of deer in my yard.

I see deer (usually a couple does and their babies, once in awhile a young buck) but at least 3-4 times a week on my property or crossing the road in front of me going from one of the neighbors properties, often in the early evening while I'm grilling or smoking dinner they are less than a hundred yards from me eating my hay... I always enjoy watching them.

We usually have deer in the yard several days every week. This week I haven't seen any at all. I think they're hiding from the bucks.

Near the end of my daily walk yesterday, I had 4 does/fawns break cover and cross the road less than 20 yards in front of me. They were evidently getting water from the lake about 30 yards off the road. I just got between them and their cover. I live on a dead-end road 10 miles from town.

Yesterday morning, sitting on deck sipping a cup of Kona Gold, my little tomcat hanging out with me, when the ladies stopped by. We have two does, each with 2 fawns that will walk up to within about 25 feet. Sometimes they park their babies near the deck while they go do something for a few minutes (hang out at the bar, shop at Kohl's, who knows?) Been doing that for 3 years.

Beats the hell out of having loud obnoxious neighbors.
