Blue Origin Passenger Killed in Plane Crash ,,,,,,,
I seen a comment of a small plain crash several months back some poster stated a lot of plain crashes were doctors , lawyers , and basic just rich looking for a hobby and cause the crashes any way the fellow making the the comment said look guys stop trying to fly and just buy a boat LOL
That may be partially true but most cooks at Applebee's can't afford a plane so therefore most airplane pilots are going to be doctors, lawyers and other higher earning individuals.
If you don't have $20-30,000 disposable income per year you probably aren't going to be owning an airplane.
De Vries earned a private pilot license in May, and a man named Thomas P. Fischer has commercial and flight instructor certificates, according to FAA records.
He might have been up with the instructor getting his IFR hours so he could fly at night.
The investigators will figure it out. One thing that my flying years taught me is that you can never presume the cause of an accident. The actual chain of events leading up to the crash can be quite surprising. It's unlikely that the eventual report will be carried as news, so we out here may never hear what they found.
At one time I was watching many Youtube videos of plane crashes. Most if not all of the small plane crashes were the result of pilots ignoring either basic flight rules or flying beyond their training or experience.
No, the grass landing strip, not pictured, was very dry and grass somewhat long. The brakes locked, like being on ice. End of the ‘strip’ had RR ties for corner posts, which caught the right wing before dropping off into a steep ditch and out the other side ripping off the engine, which was 100yds the the right.
They were picking up a ranchers plane that was due for a ‘major’. The owner of the pictured plane had to wait for the proper authorities to arrive, my buddy flew the 2nd plane back to Montrose for inspection/repair.
Sounds like my description was correct. Landing accident? Check. Caught the right wingtip? Check. Cartwheeled, tearing off the engine and tail section? Check. Also tore off the landing gear.
Looked to be a Cessna 177 Cardinal. (If it was the RG version, maybe, just maybe, somebody forgot to put the gear down, Hmmm?)
182 Cessna, pressurized,,,,,,,,gear is in the ravine, sheared off. Wingtip caught RR tie spinning it into opposite RR tie. The ties were part of a gate/corner posts.
You're right, warbirds. It's just the way that threads and real conversations drift.
The OPs connection to Blue Origin is due to DeVries having flown on their most recent passenger boondoggle. The irony of the tragedy makes it newsworthy.

Billionaire flying in a Cessna 172. You would have thought if he wanted a prop job he could afford a Mooney.
The TV news left out that the "other person" was the flight instructor & that it was a training flight.

Buddy of mine and two others walked away from this ,,,,,
Landing accident where they caught the right wingtip and cartwheeled?
Snub nose model . They were fortunate

A 182 with no wing struts? Or were they ripped off, too?
Rocky, can’t answer that, next time I see my buddy I will ask.
I'm just going by the photo, but the only Cessna I can think of without struts was the 177. Not worth pursuing it - that damage won't buff out anyway.
Rocky, my bad. The 182 belongs to my buddy, the wrecked one is a 210, no struts.
Apart from sensationalism this has zero connection to Blue Origin.
