It was a cold, but beautiful day....I hunted from a ground blind instead of my usual tree stands.....I saw 8 deer my morning hunt.....neither buck was legal (at least 4 pts on one side)...I could have shot any one of 4 mature does but passed as I am still in big buck mode for now....Afternoon hunt was similar...11 deer total...One legal buck but in never got closer than 400 yards.....watched several mature does and lined up on them but did not pull the trigger yet....
Polled the guys that hunt around me....No one shot the 12pt or the big 8pt I have been watching....so will hit it again tomorrow...The good part about getting older is I am a little more patient...the bad part is I am old and hurt all over !!!!
It was a great day to sit in the weeds for several hours.....

Good luck. Looks like a nice spot.
My land is all forest and most spots have a lot of brush so there is not a lot of a open space like you have.

I darn near got my buck last night , but it would have been on the hood of the Jeep . heading to work last night in the falling snow , came around a sharp curve in the road and he stepped out right in front of me , thank God the road wasn't slicked up yet or I would have had him
Well it's a terrible pic with phone camera from inside the house, but this was Friday morning in my front yard, one doe standing guard and two bucks eating in the trees in front of one of our barns, can see the one buck the other is behind him close to the barn, they were there for about 10 minutes or so until the dog starting barking and they took off.
