A black convicted felon fired a handgun in the Atlanta airport while trying to board a plane. And then managed to run away. When I used to have to travel so much the one instruction I told the office; I do not care if I have to make a stop in Portugal, on my way to Houston, just never send me through Atlanta airport. The absolute worst airport I have ever been to. Every experience I have ever had there was bad.

Back when I was flying a lot, my only airline choices were DELTA. All flights put me in Atlanta every time!
When asked if I have ever been in Atlanta I always say no. I have been to DELTA!
If you've ever lived anywhere east of the Mississippi, there's a truism that says it does not matter if when you die you are going to heaven or hell - you'll have to go through Atlanta.
Thirty years ago, I didn't mind it, but Atlanta airport was cleaner, newer, and in far better shape then. Today, it's almost falling apart, filthy, and staffed with people who don't give a cockroach's carbuncle about anything but their paycheck.
The worst thing? they ALWAYS manage to schedule your connecting flight to leave the gate five minutes less than it takes to use the underground trains.
When I was spending a lot of time at Lockheed in Marietta, Ga. I remember Neal Boortz , a talk radio host who did his national show out of Marietta, commenting on how crooked the Atlanta airport was.
We only passed thru Atlanta once & it was a good experience. My wife was beyond sick & we barely had enough time to get to our connecting flight. They had a young fellow waiting with a wheel chair who took us thru the maze of elevators, a monorail, hallways & courtyards. We made it with time to spare & the attendant there couldn't have been nicer. She even turned down a tip.
Been there a few times and gosh that place is HUGE. One time our connector was 30 minutes and we tool the rail, escalator , ect. and we did like OJ did literally run through the last two hundred yards to get there by a few minutes.
Before I retired I was flying an average of 150 times a year. Atlanta, Philly and O'Hare were the ones I REALLY dreaded. Dulles and LaGuardia were right behind. BWI was modeled on the Catholic concept of Purgatory.
The atlanta airport is bad and I do not like it.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
