so the parents didn't do anything about the drawing and the school didn't do anything about it and just let him return to class, what the heck is up with that ?
My thoughts exactly. They had the kid, and his backpack, and the drawing pretty much saying that he intended to start shooting. No one thought to search his backpack and they let him go back to class with the Sig 9mm in his backpack. I think we will be seeing more people charged.
Just right!! I hope it sticks all the way. Maybe if some of these child producing people get some skin in the process, they will become parents and actually RAISE their children.
For those of you who think the parents should be prosecuted for their child's crimes I must strongly DISAGREE! My youngest son was diagnosed to be Bipolar at the age of 15. He went from a very normal acting kid with many fine scholastic achievements and friends into a manic\depressive brat monster that put his mother and me to about the last string of sanity ourselves!
I will not go into all of the details here as they would fill a chapter but thankfully my son was never violent towards others. It took nearly a year to get any help from a mental institution that actually knew how to diagnose and begin treatments for this most awful condition!!
For those who feel that we as parents should have to stand trial and do time for the uncontrollable behavior's of our adolescent children, when we ourselves are already suffering in purgatory for just knowing of our responsibilty of this child's very life!!!
For us, Hell on earth is real already without tying a rock around our necks and casting us off into the deep blue sea!!
I'll watch the evidence play out on the parents. I hope they have the means to get a fair trial with good representation. Being prosecuted for someone, even your child, taking your gun and intentionally committing a crime is opening a box we may not want opened.
Children with time will find a way around most things in the home if that is their goal. This gun was bought days before but that probably wasn't the only gun in the house and the kid probably already knew what he needed to know. Even if there was no more security than verbal instructions in this case, once the door is open we could not have enough security to keep from being prosecuted.
My children had access to guns at his age as did I and most people on this forum.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

They gave the kid the gun for Christmas, and they had to know he was a nutcake.
Unless they start arresting every single Black Mom in Chicago, this is racist persecution.
