Went to the Rock Island Auction Today
That's 2 places off my list this yea... RIA & Knob Creek. Now I need to scam a couple tickets to the Shot Show.
Nice place. Interesting experience. They were selling flintlock which I don't know much of nothing about. Surprised me how fast they move through them. Slam, bam and move on to the next. 500 minimum bids at times. Jump in and buy it or we're moving on without you.
If you're selling and want the experience and drama of bidding, I'd sell it on Gunbroker. The experience here is more a quickie in the backseat of a Lincoln.
Seriously, it was interesting and a good show, like none I've seen before. Been to a lot of farm auctions and I am a firm believer the audience knows if the auctioneer isn't screwing around and will bid as aggressively as required. Nickle & diming the bidders doesn't bring out top dollar but makes for a slower sale. I just ain't never seen auctioneers move so quickly.
First class place. I'd probably be critical of Southerby's also.

Except for 2020 and 2021, I have went at least once every year for probably 12-13 years. You are right about the speed of their individual sales. They average right at 25 seconds per sale. If you are going to bid, you better be ready or you will get left in the dust. They have set bid increments and they will not budge from them.
