Will new California law make bacon more expensive?
HAHAHAHAHA Hell yes, we want to pay more for our bacon. We are Californians and stupid.
A plate of bacon sits on the kitchen table on the Ron Mardesen farm, Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, near Elliott, Iowa. A coalition of California restaurants and grocery stores has filed a lawsuit to block implementation of a farm animal welfare law, adding to uncertainty about whether bacon and other fresh pork products will be prohibitively expensive or available at all in the state when the new rules take effect on New Year’s Day. Mardesen already meets the California standards for the hogs he sells to specialty meat company Niman Ranch, which supported passage of Proposition 12 and requires all of its roughly 650 hog farmers to give breeding pigs far more room than mandated by the law.

Even before that, a proposition- which is a voter back initiatives which do not originate in the state legislature, called for cage free eggs. It passed, and the price of eggs more than doubled overnight.
I enjoyed growing up in CA, and my friend Ron and I made a lot of money with our gun shop, but both of us were happy to leave, and not look back.
Do they understand that given more room to roam, in a furrowing shed, sows will kill their pigs? By laying on them, or, if agitated, eating them?
No, they do not. I bet 99% have no understanding what is involved in raising livestock.
Their ignorance knows no bounds!
I can see a burgeoning black market forming smuggling bacon in the middle of the night!
Great..more for the other states
Heck! Bacon around my neck of the woods has already gone up a lot in price without this lib California law! The Build Back Better plan will have us all eating tree bark soon and there will be mandates making us say we like it!😔
Bacon-FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!
You think the Kalifornia law is crazy? Google IP13 in Oregon!
My state ,NC, is the number 3 producer of pork in the country . A 3 lb pack that was selling for $ 12.00 last spring is now over $20.00 . My friends who farm and raise pork for the commercial market expect it to get worse.
OM thick cut 1lb was about $6 and change a few months ago, now at $12 or more here in Texas...Needless to say I haven't had a BLT in awhile....
Holy crap, Batman!
having one for lunch. Bought some bacon locally for 5.39 Pound.
There's an understatement. Basically outlaws killing anything except in self defense. Krazy on steroids.
Kalifornia................the land of FRUITS and NUTS.
Ca is dead set on being the first openly communist state in the union.
I'd call Ca a Veganism state!
