out of the blue contact
my oldest son received a text asking about a car ( actually one of my cars a 69 Camaro ) but his first name is same as mine
he thought maybe a scam but the fellow send him a old photo and a explanation
my son showed me the text and I followed up sent my email address and phone number
sure enough his dad owned and had restored the car ( he helped but about 13 at the time )
told me the story his dad had passed a year ago so he started searching for the car thru this internet some sight called lost muscle cars to start . ws giving up hope and was told it may have went to Australia as lot of the old cars do and if the car went to Ohio its almost impossible to find it in Ohio some rules and tracking issues but with help from some LEO his dad had worked with he was able to track it to me
we talked about the car and was excited to find out where it was and how it was looking he send me photos of it being torn down and gone thru about 1984 and at car shows and the drag strip . and his dads history with it his dad sold it to a fellow who owned it a while did some changes then sold it to a collector car dealer in Indiania they also made a few changes then I bought it off the internet super rare for me as I bought it sight un seen just the photos they posted ( scary for me but it was the right time right price and worth the risk I thought ) that was at least 15 + years ago and then I changed a lot of things also but still has the paint from when his dad had it done ( yes it needs repainted and on my wish list , but looks good to have been done in 1984 ) the car is one in my GB user name photo
I know nothing exciting to most of you as most stories on here her but to me and I am sure to him a good day of course he ask if I would sell it and if I ever do please contact him I told him after I kick off my sons might 🤨

Pretty awesome that the fella was able to track the car down, and make contact with you. Thanks for sharing.
That's a great story, and very interesting. My father in law metal detects and tracks down owners to return old class rings and stuff….. kind of reminds me of that. Neat (especially these days) when strangers can connect and have a friendly conversation like you did.
I wonder if he’ll try to buy back the car from you at some point.
Don't be surprised if the guy wants to see the car in person. After I sold the 69 Monaco Orange SS 396 El Camino I had posted on here.. to a dealer out of Tenn. It already had a home .. the dealer knew the guy was looking for one. New owner calls from California and was thankful I gave it up. He had bought one of the exact ones built in freemont cal. new and wanted another one later in life. Just 50 of those were built in that color .
