My new bed

susiesusie Member Posts: 7,680 ✭✭✭✭

Picked it up yesterday evening. Slept in it last night without needing to take any Tylenol or aspirin. Actually got a fairly large one. It is a rocker recliner. Once I recuperate and can resume sleeping in my bedroom the chair will be moved to the playroom.

Max the cat seemed to enjoy it as well.

And Shiggles says howldy.

My beautiful bride, aka, she who shall be obeyed, bought me the adjustable base, for our king size sleep number bed.

I have boughts of acid stomach, and I'm forever grateful.

Installed yesterday, my last day of work, until January 4th.

I've not been on the forum regularly in the past year or so, so I don't know what's ailing you but I pray that you get well soon. I do know that you sent out a bunch of prayers for June and I which we really appreciated.

I spent over a year from the first of October 2020 until the last of October 2021 in one of our recliners sitting and lying by June's side when I got the chance to rest during her battle with cancer. My La-Z-Boy couch and loveseat has a recliner on each end so I've still got 3 more recliners to go after I wear this one out. It would have been tough to make it without the recliner during this terrible time.

I just spent the night in my Stressless recliner. I only sleep. 4-5 hours a night and I sleep like a log in that chair.

My wife wouldn't have a recliner in our house. So I had to suffer through two rotator cuff surgeries trying to sleep without a recliner.

Fast forward to a little over a year ago when my wife had open heart surgery. The surgeon advised getting a lift chair/recliner before the surgery. That chair was the only place she could sleep for over three months.

She now understands the value of a good recliner.

Max and you will log some quality time in your new bed. Who knows that really might be your new bed. I have several friends that can't sleep except in a recliner!

I often sleep in my leather over stuffed recliner. It is quite comfortable being able to keep my head raised up a bit. Only complaint is during our cold months, my feet hang over the foot rest and the blanket is open underneath. Bare feet are exposed and get cold from below. I have kept my socks on but that makes my feet itch the next day and sure it is bad for circulation.

My thermostat lowers the temps at night and I do like breathing colder air and will not sacrifice all the extra $$ just for warm feet.

my mother makes what they call a quillow it has a pocket for your feet you ought to try one they are great

your feet fit in the pocket so the covers will not pull off your feet and the pocket keeps them warmer

When I fell off the fender of my 50-horse Kubota I cracked two vertebra in my neck and had to wear a brace for two months. Slept in recliner.

Slept fine but sure was glad to get back in big bed!

Slept in recliner for 3 weeks after breaking some ribs . Three knee replacements have proven the necessity of a recliner /lift chair . Hopefully soon we will purchase some new recliners .

I nap in mine. Probably couldn't last a whole night in it, because I'm a side sleeper, but for that half-hour or so in mid afternoon, it's a joy.

Night is spent in a Sleep Number Queen, with adjustable base. THE bed.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Same here. I can nap for an hour or so max in the recliner, but being a side sleeper, I have to lay flat to get real good sleep. The adjustable frame is fine for watching tv or reading but goes flat for anything like deep sleep. Ours is 2 XL twins so my bride can have her bed in any position she likes without disturbing me. My memory foam mattress has amnesia so time to replace it. Lasted 10 years but thinking about a sleep# this time.

Hi @susie Glad the new recliner is helping, what make, model etc did you get and online or at store? I need a new one and sleep in my current most nights, but it is wore out.

It's an Ashley. Nothing special. It was easy to operate with one functional arm, the footrest is continous with no opening for the cat to claw me or cold air to sneak inside. It is very cushioned for sleeping. Not the Cadillac of recliners but it gets the job done for less than $500 with tax.

sxsnuf, I can heartily recommend a Sleep Number bed. We're on our second one. Loved the first basic one so much we upgraded and put the first one in the guest room. Now, we have trouble getting guests to leave!

After a few years, we upgraded again, to an adjustable base. Not the split one (which requires special split bottom sheets) but a regular queen. We find that our ideal sleep position is with the head raised about two inches. Doesn't seem like much, but the effect is huge. There's a "Zero G" position that is so restful, we're ready for sleep in only a few minutes. Just hit the "Favorite" button, and it lowers to our preferred contour. Zonk.

The real benefit though is the ability to change softness/hardness at will, and be different on each side. On nights when it's hard to sleep, just a slight change either way makes it like a whole new bed. Over the decades, we've had only one leak, and they replaced that cell no questions asked. Flawless otherwise.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

@Rocky Raab, my wife and I have a King sized sleep number for a few years.

On Dec 22nd, they delivered the adjustable base. It's also just a whole bed unit.

Most of the time, it stays perfectly flat, but when acid reflux kicks in, I bump it up, just a couple clicks, and almost instant relief.

    Love our sleep number!

Yuppers. Up a tiny bit helps with "snorfing" too.
