And these stupid bastards think stuff like this is cool.
Too bad he's only 14, too young to be tried as an adult.

i have read lately gangs encourage "young " members to do the killing they know the kids will get smacked on the hand or held until they turn 18 to 21 yrs old because of the court system
do the crime you should be treated as a adult in such cases
I began working with emotionally disturbed teens in 1979 till 2012 . Over the years I charted and observed a marked change in their psychopathology. Each year seemed to bring out a higher and higher percentage of true sociopaths. Children utterly devoid of any feelings of compassion or conscience. Today the trend seems to continue . Murder does not bother them a bit
Retired from working in a state juvenile correctional facility. Some of the problem I seen was the psychotropic medications some of these kids were put on. After taking it for a while they seem to have no empathy for anybody as I believe it does something to their brain. Without the meds we would have needed a lot more staff and handling facilities.
Terrible. Wishing an armed citizen would have been there to send him to ****
Jtrent ,your inmates and my patients were/ are interchangeable . Difference was mine just lucked out and got hospitalized before they racked up legal.charges . No difference behavior wise . And yes , tge drugs did and do cause irreversible mental changes if not properly monitored.
"Too bad he's only 14, too young to be tried as an adult."
...David, cant the state have a hearing and possibly have him tried as adult?...
I agree with this observation. I strongly believe is the effect of the nuclear family breakdown.
In Florida he would be tried as an adult but couldn't receive the death penalty which is a real shame.
Back when I was a Juvenile Investigator, a juvenile had to be at least 15 years old to be tried as an adult, IIRC. So, either my recollection is faulty or the laws have changed. Either way, it's better now.
Just tragic
That 14 YO out shot most cops. Where did he learn to shoot like that?? Are there video games they play to learn to shoot??
The shooter reportedly used a .40 caliber pistol, and fired "over 20 rounds." He apparently had only one gun, without an extended magazine, and I didn't see him reload on the video.
How does that happen?
It had an extended mag. I saw it hanging out of the pistol when he was shooting.
Well, there ya go. More ammo for the "high-capacity" magazine ban crowd.
UPDATE:
The 14-year-old arrested for this shooting has been released with no charges. The actual shooter is still at large and still unidentified.
The 33-year-old who drove the shooter to and from the gas station has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder. (In Texas there are no accessories, only co-actors.) Apparently, he has not identified his passenger.
...I think if i was the driver, I'd be trying to work a deal by telling them who the shooter was is in an attempt to avoid the death penalty...but considering what they did, neither one of them is too bright...
The problem today is that he does not have to make a deal. Even if he gets the death penalty, so few executions are done, he will take his chances that it will never happen.
Definitely better chances than what he will have in prison if he gives up the shooter.
The average stay on Death Row right now is NINETEEN years. The age to be prosecuted as an adult varies state to state, however, the death penalty cannot be imposed if the defendant was under 18 at the time of the crime. Supreme Court ruling.
And in plain English, there are stone cold PREDATORS out there that are not old enough to get a Learner's Permit. Murder, rape, arson, armed robbery, and 12 years old.
Here is one juvenile that was sentenced to life .
Lee Boyd Malvo. 24 people dead.
...Texas is less tolerant of murder...last execution here was about 3 months ago...we execute several every year...that said, the average time on death row here is about 10 years...I think we should clear the prisons and execute around the clock until we get caught up...
...New DEVELOPMENT...His is Dad (!) drove him to the store to shoot those other kids(!), then drove him from the scene of the killings...his Dad is in jail now and HE is charged with Capital murder, GOOD!!...what a "family"...
I read that. Brings up a lot of questions.
Why? What on God's green Earth would compel one to want to do something like that? If/when they catch up to this kid I hope he resists enough that the officers are justified in ventilating his sorry carcass.
