Saying goodby to an old buddy

Wife has taken our old boy Sarge to vets to be put down this am. He's over 15 years old and has had issue for the last couple of years, but still enjoyed his life. Last night and this morning he just can't use his back legs anymore and stopped eating. Vet told us he will let you know when he's done a year ago and this morning he has. Sorry to lose such a good boy, but this is the way it goes with our furry buddies. RIP Sarge.

Very sorry for your loss...
RIP Sarge
If there was true justice in the world our 4 legged friends would be immortal. Sorry for your loss but you still have the memories of his unconditional love. Bob
I am so sorry, sir. They leave a great big hole in our hearts when they go.
Not mine, but still brings a tear to my eye.....RIP Sarge.
So sorry for your loss, it hurts.
So very sorry to hear. He looked like a fine friend from your picture.
I am sorry for your loss. I had a Norwegian Elkhound for 13 years that passed on Jan 4th with exactly the same symptoms. We get really attached to these animals and it is very hard to be without them.
Hate to hear it but you did him a favor. Tough decision.
Sorry for your loss
Sorry
Rest In Peace, Sarge. See you again in heaven.
It came to me that every time I lose a dog,
they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog who comes into my life
gifts me with a piece of their heart.
Maybe if I live long and well enough
all the components of my heart will be Dog,
and then maybe I will be able to offer love
As pure and completely as they do.
Sure looks like a mans best friend. Been there, doesn't make it any easier. 😥
RIP Sarge, So sorry for your loss. He looks like he was a great pal.--------Ray

Sorry for your loss. The little buggers get right into the heart and it hurts like hell when they leave.
Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss.
RIP Sarge
Looking at the pic it appears Sarge was left wanting for very little. I'm sure he gave as good as he got. Sincerely sorry for the loss of your furry child.
RIP - Sarge
Be sure to look out for Sonny, Leo & Vinnie.
Ruger4mem, I'll spare you the platitudes and sentiments.
I have walked in your shoe many, many times.
It sucks and it's lonely and it hurts.
Prayers sent for all.
George
Sorry to hear the sad news.
So sorry to hear the sad news. I had to have my jack Russell put down five years ago. Had him 15 yrs. still think of him every day.
Sorry for your loss, Ruger.
Thank you all for the kind words. Wife was with him, she said vet applied the IV, he reached up and gave her a little kiss, wagged his tail then laid his head in her lap and was gone.
Again thanks to all of you.
2nd post, Impossible not to feel your pain here at the key board. They give us unconditional love. What more could we ask? In time things will get better. --------Ray
That is heartbreaking. He reached up and gave her a kiss, and then was gone. Sarge knew what was happening and he was thanking your wife.
I feel your pain brother!!!

So Sorry , May He RIP
Sorry.
Never easy.
Went thru the same thing years ago when mine let me know it was time. With sympathy, Al
It’s taken me sometime to convey my sympathy to you.
I got a little dusty every time I read it. I had to do the same to my Airedale * Maggie and did the same is why.
My condolences to you and hope ol Sarge is doing what ever it was that he loved to do.

we have had to have our share put to rest .
as your wife was kissed goodby many times I have the long time pal lick my hand wag there tail as they go to sleep . several times the vets even broke out in tears along with us . undying love till the end is what they give . one a big old baby German Shepard 140 pounds worth my wife called her gentle giant Buddy was the most gentle dog I have seen
we had the vet come to our house . to make it easy on all of us I felt bad for Buddy the doc poked him a least a 1/2 dozen times to get a good vain . our two sons my wife and I were all there with him . as they grew up with buddy it was like he knew what we were doing and was very calm
but after the vet shoved the needle in on the 4th time Buddy bit ?/nipped my chest as I was holding his head in my lap and hands nothing bad did not leave a mark just enough pressure to say that hurts . as he looked at me , he had never in his life did any thing close . that brought tears to my eyes and still does . thinking about it I was up set at the vet for what seemed like torturing buddy .
our last one a 12 year old wiener dog wendy was just as sad for us for us my wife held her in her arms as wendy drifted off in my wifes lap and licking her hand as she left us my wife held her all the way home wrapped in a blanket wendy liked to sleep on we have three more dogs odds are the last ones as we are geting old also . but never say never when it comes to helping out a pet
if any thing it gets harder to say good by as we grow older and more aware of how Presious life is
if any story is true I hope the rainbow bridge is one of them
I am sure he had a great life and left a piece of his heart for the one he took of yours as he left
well said ...Wild Turkey.... still miss my buddy every day who left in 1971
