Over 5 days since positive

And according to the CDC I could go out in public as long as I wore a mask. Positive test was last Tuesday. I never ran a fever so I can't use that as a measure of safety.
I was scheduled for an ortho follow-up appointment tomorrow. Decided to err on the safe side. I tested myself and I'm still positive. I rescheduled the appointment.
I'm beginning to wonder if the CDC determined that omicron was such a small health threat that it was better to spread this variant as far and wide as possible to complete herd immunity. I'm not saying it's a safe variant, just not as highly lethal or incapacitating as the initial virus or the delta variant. Appears to be more equivalent to the flu and more manageable with OTC meds.

Wait another day or two
Susie,
What were your symptoms and duration ?
What type of test did you use ?
Good luck with this.
Susie,
this is from a few days ago,
JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Health Department issued a “Health Advisory” today, Jan. 7 in response to COVID-19 cases in the county climbing “extremely high.”
According to the health department, from Dec. 29, 2021, through Jan. 4, 2022, there were a total of 734 cases reported with a correlating case rate of 3,128.20/100,000 population.
In the past two weeks, 15.6% of tests taken in Teton County have received a positive result according to the Wyoming Department of Health.
I think after you left the locals started referring to it as “Okiecron” 😉
Hope it’s all upward from here for you.

Keep a positive attitude
My main symptom was a queasy stomach. Flying home from Wyoming on Monday evening I had a bit of a scratchy throat. I drank a lot of water and it disappeared. I blamed that on dry airplane air.
Tuesday morning was when I woke up with the queasiness. I thought at first it might just be fallout from the wide variety of heavy food and the extensive amount of drinking over the 6 days of travel. I tried to eat something bland to settle it. Didn't work. Took the rapid test, positive.
Never ran a fever. I did have chills. At one point I was under two blankets with the thermostat set at 75. During that time my temp was 96.5. I think my body was trying to freeze the virus, 😆.
I have had some sinus drainage but nothing outside the normal winter time drip I typically get if I stay inside too long. I have developed a cough from the drainage. It's not as bad as the cough I had during deer season that had me chugging Mucinex and eating cough drops like candy. It's more of a reaction to the drainage.
Never lost my sense of taste. The last symptom is just feeling tired. That could be from not eating very much. As my appetite has returned, so has my energy.
A recent study at MIT found that, once you have been infected with covid, you can continue to test positive for up to 2 months after you have recovered.
Best to consult with your primary care physician by phone.

Correct. I would dispense with any efforts to keep testing. Good advice here @nmyers .
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
That's with the PCR test that detects the virus in your RNA which is done clinically and takes 2 or more days typically to get the results. I just used my OTC at home rapid test.
On another note, this sets up this scenario question/observation. One feels sick, has common symptoms of runny nose, fever, cough. Could be covid, could be cold, could be sinus infection, could be the flu. You see your provider and PCR tests positive for covid. If you can test positive with this test up to 12 weeks how do they determine its active virus and not one of the other ailments? Especially with folks who are now being diagnosed with "flurona" how do they know its an active case?
More questions and less answers. Also, I've been saying all along ANY type of cloth mask, even doubled, was useless. I will continue to say that as well about the N95. Unless you achieve a complete seal through a purified air filter you can't stop the virus.
Also, the minute you touch the mask with your hand for any reason it is compromised.
Been told you could test positive for at least 3 months after symptoms are gone, according to two of my men that tested positive at the beginnig of this damdemic, they receive a letter from TN center of disease control that they were clear to come back to work after 5 days of no symptoms.
After reading Susies symptoms and my brother haveing the same I am off for the rapid test tomorrow.
And no I have not been hanging out in Jackson hole with Susie. My brother does fly private jets all over everywhere so he could have contscted it about anywhere.
I don't know what the government plan is....hopefully they have learned that shutting the entire economy down is a bad thing.
I hate that you caught this nasty mess. I got the first variant last year and it just made me REALLY tired for about 4 days. I've bought enough Lysol and such to disinfect three elementary schools daily for a year. I might just donate it to help them out.
You are right about that mask thing. Someone asked me if I would wear one if they gave it to me at a store one day. I asked them if they still smell things in their mask....."yes".....and I pointed out that a virus is less than 1000 times smaller than what they could smell. They just smiled and walked away. I don't think they got it, but they left me alone.
Unless you are wearing FULL Haz Mat head gear - a cloth or paper fiber mask is useless !
A feel good placebo at best.
First time I had it, my youngest daughter brought it home from college. Mrs Fun had it too. I've had worse hangovers, I was tired for a month or two, but we were getting paid to stay home so No worries. fast forward. The kids got chipped AND boosted. Then right after Christmas MrsFun gets a sinus infection and bronchitus but negative for the Rona next day the youngest brings it home again.... Double shots and boosted and wears a mask EVERYWHERE still gets it. Luckily it was over Christmas break so she didn't miss any class. I've had it at least three times judging from the symptoms and 2 positive tests. So tired of the Scamdemic . And Sleepy Joe.
Happy New Year folks!!!!
Welcome back sir ! 😉😀😎
I can't remember the last time I've read your posts on GBGD.
