Lost my brother this AM, Marine Corporal Jerry Tannahill
Just got word that my brother passed. He was a Marine, one that was in Tet in Vietnam. Mortar crew and was in the northern part of the South a lot during his tour. I know a lot of you guys are former and current military just saying one of your group has fallen.
Just a brief story, they had set up on a hill for the night, trip wires were going off on one side, like he said all of them were. They lit up the mortar until it stopped. Waiting all night for the attack that never came. Early morning they set out and found an elephant was the tripper. The crew cut up the tusks and divided it between them. To this day it is used as a doorstop. The elephant was given to a nearby village who made short work of it.
Hey fellow forum members.
I will be printing this out all the comments and present it to the family after the service which is yet to be determined because of logistics. BUT, his wife and family will be very thankful reading the messages sent from people he never knew, and I have a feeling it will bring comfort and realize there is still many great people who took a moment out of their lives to stop and type in words of support. THANK YOU ALL!

St. Peter saw him coming and said "Uh ohhhh, another Marine! Where did I leave my running boots?"
