I hate that road, but that would be a decent way to go in my opinion. I mean at 90, not now.

Oh dude, you have no idea. I cannot concentrate for eleven miles of constant sharp blind corners trying to ride hard. Then add everything from flat out race bikes with number plates, sports cars, touring bikes, and they are operated by people with varying skill levels. Oh, I forgot the vacationers in suv's stopped in the road looking at the scenery. There are a lot of better roads up there with less traffic.

A head on with a semi at high speeds would be scary but pretty sure the end would be quick. I watched way too many horror movies as a kid and was always scared of being buried alive!! 😬

I had to look up "The Dragon" only to realize that I rode that 35 years ago & didn't know it had that name. Really beautiful place if you ever had time to look between curves.
Agree that the dragon is no place for beginners . Most challenging piece of road i ever rode on . Very easy to get hurt on. . I had a neighbor who ws still riding up until his 95th birthday

i road it t age 65 and it totally wore me out. the worst thing was i had to go back when i got to the end.

I dont know if it has anything to do with it,but SC does not have a helmet law and during warm weather seems we have 4 or 5 riders killed a week in this part of the state.
Might not be a bad way to go.
Man and wife near here somehow ended up under a concrete mixer truck., Trooper arrived just as it broke into flames. Folks were trapped and no hope to get out. They asked the trooper to end their demise but you know what that answer was.

there is a people on you tube post ther rail road adventures hopping trains one fellow shoestring hobo does a good job of it
he is a vet and said the trains and motion and having to focus all the time helps him with issues
he has it down to a science and carries a cell phone once he was locked in had to call for help and then tried to explain he was in the box car and also he gave them great direction to find him figured arest was better than dying
My friend Wayne lives in NC near the Dragon. I told him I wanted to ride it. He said, forget that, we can go on a much better ride through the mountains and not have to deal with all the amateurs'.
I was reading an article on it, and they said they have ems stationed at about the halfway point, to clean up the spills. I have been riding for 50+ years and don't feel like going on a high stress ride at this point in my life. Guess I will take the scenic ride elsewhere . Hopefully, Chris Streett and I will get in some miles again this summer , up in the mountains. He has a place near mine.

Here you go. I have ridden these roads and they are great.
Start in Dahlonega, GA (not a bed destination itself) and head north out of Dahlonega on Route 60. Stay on 60N (it merges with GA 19) as it splits off to the left towards Suches, GA. Follow it (If you can) up to Suches, GA and hang a right on Route 180 (Wolfpen Gap Road). Stay on that till it dead ends in to US Highway 129/19. At that point take a right on to US 129/19 and follow it south back down into Dahlonega.
Helen is close by and a great place to stop and eat.

I never wore a helmet until forced to. I could have used one for my arm though.
You don't have to wear them in Florida either.
I have put a few miles on my motorcycles and always wore a helmet. Often when we would cross the S.C. line from N.C. if riding in a group, some folks would stop and remove their helmets but not me. I remember crashing and tearing a week old bright yellow Shoei all to hell. Face shield all scratched up and a couple of chunks the size of silver dollars missing from the body of the thing. That was $350.00 back then, 15 years ago. I called the Helmet Shop in Ormand beach, Fl. and had them send me another one just like it.
A coworker told of coming upon a 2 vehicle wreck involving a m/c. He thought he would be helpful and bring the helmet lying in the road up to where the m/c had come to rest. When he picked up the helmet, he found a head inside. The eyes were wide as saucers. Said the memory haunts him to this day.
