Another of the many uses of diesel fuel. 😂
Noticed my wife’s 2016 F-350 was leaving a droplet trail in the snow. So I make me a ramp using 2x6’s and a couple railroad ties and drive up on them to give me good access. meaning I am too large to fit under the running boards.
I crawl underneath to investigate and find that a loop the return fuel line has engaged the yoke on the outboard driveline going to the front differential and has worn a hole in it.
I did quick trace and luckily the line has a tag with numbers.
I decide to take a photo with my phone in case it would be of assistance in ordering a replacement.
As I squirm into a cramped position to take the phone photo, and a large ( at least it felt large) drop of diesel came off the yoke and dropped directly into my ear, whew that was cold. I spent a few minutes getting the photos and then went in the house for Q tips. Got the diesel swabbed out, I thought.
Woke this morning and felt I needed to swab my ear again, low and behold, 6 Q tips later I got the majority of the loosen ear wax cleaned out 🤣. My Bride with her never ending concerns, stated “ Guess that’s the reason you can’t hear me, I thought you just weren’t listening “
So gents, if unknown ear wax build up is an issue, diesel fuel has another use.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this, but what I read wasn't even on the radar!
DP, my friend, NEVER use Q-tips to dig out earwax. You can so easily blow out your eardrum that way. Buy an ear syringe (a rubber squeeze bulb) and squirt the wax out with warm water. Get one at any pharmacy. It'll come with a small bottle of softening liquid - that works almost as well as diesel, apparently!
Wow, you get pretty good mileage.
Thanks Rocky
With the price of diesel these days, your suggestion is probably cheaper!
and likely less aromatic.

Hmmmmm! Makes me wonder if it might cure tinnitus?? Or change that nonstop high pitched ringing into a lower diesel "rattle" 😁
Good to know. I suppose if one was in a hurry, you could use gasoline?🤣
I've long known you could use it instead of wax to buff the paint on your car, but dewaxing your ears was never on the radar.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Wasn’t on my radar yesterday either.
Probably not going to intentionally attempt it again in the future LOL.
Didn’t seem to change to volume or pitch of the ringing in my ears.

cerum melts under petrolium
as a young kid I remember my dad bringing home a gallon of diesel ( from a work site ) wiped down a old car he used for work I recall it shined for a while any way .
I see now linseed oil is used by a lot of the car guys on old found in the barn cars to get that shine
as for it dripping into my ear I would say I have had every fluid used in or on a car / truck in my ears mouth and eyes over the years
and the ethanol gas is the worst tasting stuff to get in your mouth 😝
Known that when Dad use to burn brush.. a good ol tire and diesel would get it going.
Old remedy for cuts. Mix coal oil and soot for a antiseptic, helped stop the bleeding to. Many folks from that era carried black scars from the treatment.
Coal oil is just refined diesel, AKA kerosene or lamp oil.
I rub some diesel fuel on the floor of my car trailer every year; keeps it looking fine.... and bug-proof.
I mix diesel and used motor oil on mine. Top and bottom. Then drive a few miles on a good, dusty, limestone gravel road.
All metal parts, also. Along with the undercarriage of the work rail and farm truck.
