A day of remembering some of the past...
Ten years ago today, we buried my Father in Law. He was one of the finest men I ever had the opportunity to know. He worked hard, was kind to others and was very grounded. He was in the Air Force after finishing College and flew F-86 Sabre jets. He worked for Caterpillar for 35 plus years as an engineer and was on the team that designed the CAT 3208 engine. He finished his career with CAT in the main headquarters and had the opportunity to fly all over the World for them.
He retired here on the farm we now live on. He enjoyed over twenty years here before his death. He and my mother in law traveled and just enjoyed the quiet simple life here. His final project was a complete rebuild/restoration of a 1950 Farmall M.
I have great memories of starting with when I met him the first time when I started dating my bride when we were 16. Asking him 5 years later if I could marry his daughter and all the good and difficult times through the next 35 years that I knew him.... Looking forward to seeing him again on the other side !
A final thought.....he had a great sense of humor. He would have gotten a kick out the fact he was buried on Groundhog day !!

Wonderful tribute.
Well written tribute William. It seems as I grow older I appreciate more and more the folks I have known that have since passed on. There were some that had great humility and a good sense of humor like your father-in-law and those are the ones I miss most. Bob
