I think its still burning / smoldering I was surprised not to see it more on the internet about it and with fertilizer already crazy prices this is not going to help

just me but 500 tons of fertilizer and 600 tons on ammonium nitrate would make a slight boom if it goes up

they evacuated a mile around the plant due to toxic fumes but even that I would be a bit worried If me if 100+ tons explode

Back in the 70s I hauled ammonium nitrate,20 tons a load in a dump trailer with 350 gallons of diesel fuel in the tractor all over the southeast with no clue it was explosive.

Ammonia nitrate and diesel fuel are no more dangerous than anything else unless it is used improperly and then conditions must be perfect for a kaboom.

It is used in the construction industry for a blasting agent, diesel fuel and ammonia nitrate mixed, drop a stick of 2 x 16 dynomite in a deep bore hole, fill about half way, drop in another stick, top off with more "stuff, plug hole with gravel and make sure you are at a safe distance, preferably behind something and let her fly. Now a days big hopper trucks with long hoses come to the blasting sites and "pump" the holes full.

The stuff is highly regulated after Terry Macvee?? did his dirty work.

Old timers around here us to blast stumps out with dynamite, punch a hole or two under stump, load with desired amount and set her off. Had to get right the first try as a half blasted stump is hard to re-blast. Found out they could use the mix and you didn't have to drag the stump out of the field. 😲

Hauled and spread many a ton on the farm years ago. Had to be careful not to leave bags laying around, Livestock would chew on the bags and DRT.

Our Government use to put out pamphlets on how to use it for explosives as butchdog was saying

For blowing up stumps and rocks

Back before the crack down we were doing drilling and blasting on some of the rock that were it way. Bigg rocks.

Went to supplier for a couple cases and and he told me , "yesterday I could have sold you a train load but today, forget it"

I felt sooo much safer after that day, sheese.
