Getting too steep for me. I already have a .280 and a 7x57 RSI so no matter how pretty that one is I am gonna pass. I will be looking to see what it goes for because regular common No1s seem to be getting pretty pricy!. Bob
i have several no. 1's but i just dont see the point of having that one. mine are all in what i consider useful calibers but i just dont see the point of that particular one.

Most folks don't look at the 7.62x39 other than a military caliber. Ak's eat those fmj like candy. However the soft point ammo is very useful in shooting deer, coyotes, or anything a 30/30 could kill. I have shot a few deer and dropped them right there. Those old stories the caliber isn't accurate is only as good as the weapon they are coming out of. The Ruger American bolt is a sub minute rifle at 100 yd.
I love the No. 1. My wife bought me a Ruger SRH in .480 Ruger. I always wanted a No.1 in that caliber. Ruger started making them again and I scored one for retail, about $1400. Fun to shoot and fun to reload for.
im not one to knock the 7.62x39, i have several. i just wouldnt want a No. 1 in that caliber.
Bought a Ruger No 1 B standard in 1993, 270 Weatherby Mag, in the box used but new condition without a flaw. Some poor guy had some tax trouble and had the No 1 and two MK V Weatherby's in a gun shop for sale. Looked at them on a Saturday afternoon and went back Monday evening and bought the No 1 for 379.00. Good investment on a great rifle.
