specialty shotgun ammunition availability

I am a beginning competitive trap shooter and an increasingly serious upland fowl (pheasant, partridge) hunter. I am interested in locating quality shotgun hunting ammo, all #6, including Kent Fastlead, Kent Faststeel, Kent Bismuth, and Fiocchi Golden Pheasant. As none of this has been available, I WAS ABLE to get six boxes of Winchester SuperX Heavy Game Loads at gunbroker.com. So that stands me in good stead for about two seasons. But the question is, where do I get the rest of these brands? Any help?

Do a 'Saved Search' on the auction side. You will get an E-Mail notice whenever a new item is listed within your search title.
Look at the Sterling ammo.
Plenty of shells on the auction side. For pheasant these work just fine for me:
Put in a bid and maybe you'll get lucky. Bob
No. 6 for trap? Better think again.
Welcome to the forums Dr.
ATA largest shot size is 7.5 lead ,,,,,,, your shoulder won’t appreciate 100 rounds of number #6 shot ,,,,,, 😉
I believe the OP stated he was looking for hunting rds. not Trap loads. If he is shooting upland game, then he must be in an area that requires steel, otherwise there is no point in looking for the Kent faststeel as they are nowhere near as effective as lead. As for the bismuth loads, unless he wants to shoot an older not rated for steel shotgun in a no lead area there is no need for the extra expense. The Fiocchi pheasant loads are great but to me not worth the expense because I have done just as good with standard hunting loads like the one I linked too. Bob
First sentence stated beginning competitive trap shooter!
In my neck of the woods, if you don't have a pocket full of 6's for fun shoots, you might as well sit on the bench. As for shooting 100 rounds of 6's, the shot goes by weight, so your shoulder doesn't know the difference between 1 1/8 oz of 2's, 6''s or 9's.
Second sentence said the OP was looking for hunting ammo and mentioned some hunting loads he was looking for. I hope he was not using them for target. Bob
Are you saying 1 1/4 oz #6 pheasant loads have less recoil than trap/skeet loads. ATA max load is 1.125. oz.
Nope, I said that shot size doesn't make a difference, only the payload does.
And the velocity.
For sure. It's amazing how far you can break a target from with 33 grains of longshot behind 1 1/8 oz's of copper 5's.
We occasionally have long shot competitions on our sporting clays field, maximum loads 3 dram 7.5s. It is amazing how far out that one magic pellet can break a target! Here is a video of George Digweed shooting long distance;
We don't shoot any more than a fraction of what he is doing. I didn't catch what shot size, only that he was using standard loads. At 130 yards I bet I wouldn't even see the target let alone shoot any where near it. Bob
I seen that video a few years ago, pretty amazing. Wasn't he shooting a Perazzi?
Yes, he is an artist with his Perazzi! Makes me look like a total and complete Neophyte with mine. It just proves it isn't the gun but the talent of the guy holding it. Oh well, I have a good time anyway.😊 Bob
Nothing wrong with Winchester Super X.Years ago I killed a deer at 80 yards with Super X buckshot.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Dr. Schley rode off into the sunset and was never seen again...
If you're gonna ask a question at least have the decency to stick around and engage with those that try to answer!
Maybe he had an emergency.
