The origin of the tern "Carnival" is from the Latin carne vale which means "the end of meat" in reference to the traditional meatless fasting once practiced by Christians during Lent. That's also the origin of Fat Tuesday, for the day when they crammed themselves with meat for the same reason: the end of meat for the next 40 or so days.

SWMBO and I just shared a nice T-bone which I grilled outside. It hit 51 degrees today, as we are between storms.
