    Wow........love this thread!

I've been self-employed for 25+ years now, buying and selling all sorts of stuff. I loooooooooove to find a good deal!

    Here are the top ones:

I used to sell videogame accessories online (early days of ebay, started there in 1996)

So, one day, my supplier calls me, tells me "My boss is closing the business! Make an offer for everything!"

They had 120k+ pieces. I offered them $.25 per pc, and I'd take the whole shebang. This was a super-duper lowball offer. There was NO WAY they'd take it!

So she calls me back and says "My boss says ok!" and I about died. I didn't have $30k to spare at that time, but I came up with it. Two weeks later, two semis FULL show up! I had them in the driveway under tarps until I could buy another shipping container to store the stuff in.

Most of the items in that deal I sold for a minimum of $5-6, many were $20+!!! I probably made $300k in that deal, at the absolute minimum!

Other deals more recently: I bought 20k ceramic tiles (painted, like for trivets and coasters and such) all made in the USA.......for $1900! I sell them for $10 each or more. Only about 25% through them, and I've had those for 3+ years.

Other things: I once bought 120 computer monitors for $100, and sold each monitor for $25.........one time I bought an entire trailerload of basketballs for $1 each (thousands and thousands of them!) and sold them for $5 each.

I can't even remember 10% of the deals I've done over the years. I LOVE deals!

How did this thread raise from the dead?

Not too may years ago walked into a pawn shop, Mint 6 in royal blue Python and a Diamondback in same condition.

Python was 265.00 and Diamondback was 225.00. Asked the owner what is wrong with these two guns? Nothing, times are hard.

Python still in the safe and sold the Diamondback for 1200.00. Blind hog finds an acorn eventually.

    I know I know😁

but honestly I would have to say my wife .

best investment I ever made . now I doubt if on the open market I would gain any monetary over the original deal .but flip side I doubt she could even pay some one to take me a old grouchy set in his ways fellow

not insulting her in any way so just for the fun compared to any mechanical item I could have got 42 years ago she has worked no matter the weather or conditions ( real easy to fire up trust me on that one I have become a expert at ticking her off ) required little to no Maintenace ( she thinks fancy jewelry is a waste of money as a example ) just enjoys the simple things ( thank goodness I fall in that category ) enjoys to learn knows more about building and repairing than most fellows I know even managed to generate two great sons for us ,

I could go on and no she has no idea I am posting this and will never see it

sure I have made a few deals on guns cars trucks and so on but the money is long gone and forgotten about but

    the wife is still here

About 12 years ago I went to this farm not far away to buy some Rabbits and a Goat to eat.

I am talking to the owner and I see an old truck under a shed. I asked about it, he said its a old Dodge Power wagon. I asked if it ran, no he says has been sitting for about 10 years. I go look at it and its a 74 w/360 and a 4 speed granny low. I offered him $100 if I could get it running. Well I got it running and I have about 1000 bucks in it. I am going to the dump this afternoon and will be driving it. I have had it for 12 years and probably hauled 10 tons of crap and put 20k on the clock.

Not a deal per se, but learning that there is a system account not associated with a person on this forum feels like quite a deal to me.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

It's probably a good thing on the typewriter's Mark, with the price of diesel, you could only type a couple of sentences at a time.....
