I'm in this pet shop where I sell most of the bunnies I raise. This guy just bought two, little, night crawler sized corn snakes. I'm not kidding. I have baited hooks with nightcrawlers bigger than either of these two corn snakes!
He says "ya feedin em crickets?" The owner says "No, I'm feeding them pinkies." The buyer leaves and I ask what pinkies are??
Pinkies are new born white mice, young enough they don't have enough hair to look white so they are pink. So the term pinkies.

@dreher been a long time since I had a snake as a pet, but your post reminded me that it was suggested to have a pair of mice to use the babies "pinkies" to feed the little guy I had. Long time memory from 50 plus years ago I was a preteen maybe 10-11 years old. Thanks for the memories!
